What he said is right on target. SfGadv is highly rumored to be trying to become the next "Cedar Point". They have tons of room and what is left to add but a resort. Mark my words, SfGadv adds campgrounds and hotel, 2006.
But do I see SfGam adding a hotel/campgrounds? Well, not yet. Just wait awhile and it might become more obvious, but right now, I don't see the park adding an on-site hotel.
I'll go with what Deja Vu The Ride said! Yes SFGAv is trying to become the next cedars point and i think Great America is trying to! they have all that land! Once SFHH is done and you'll have a cedars point! All you need is just a hotel and you'll have a Six Flags Great America/Hurricane Harbor Resort Going on! With their new hotel named "Six Flags Family Inn & Suites" LOL

Not quite there yet man. Look at what CP and SFGAdv have, the two tallest coasters in the world. We dont. TTD and Kingda Ka bring in guests. Becuase when they hear tallest coaster its all, "We should go out there and ride the worlds tallest coaster." It's more amazing to the public than Raging Bull, becuase to the GP, Bigger is better.
I think they have so many motels and hotels surrounding SFgam now that they don't need a new one. As for the indoor waterpark, I think Hurricane Harbor is good for now, but once people get sick of HH, then it could be possible
I don't know why some of you see it as such a crazy idea, being just a few years ago they had plans to build a resort and all?
Point is, It wont happen, which goes right back to what I said above, they had the chance, and decided they did not want to take it. I would assume they sold the land they had because they no longer wished to make the park into a full fledged resort/hotel/thempark/waterpark/everything else - Park.

They HAD plans to do it. But then the cash crunch within the company, and it was gone.
And think before you say "buy more land" Buy what land?? Where?? And even if there is land available, NE Illinois is so densely populated that the cost of the parcel would be so astronomical, that it would be impossible.

It was mentioned in a conference call that it would cosy $35 million. I've heard though that it will be costing a little less, but not that much less. $13 million is too low.
I just got back from Knott's Berry Farm (Cedar Fair), where they have a hotel. It greatly compliments the park and waterpark. I think I attracts more guests because of the special discounts.
there is no point for six flags to build a hotel on their property.... just look on the outside of Great america, there are plenty of hotels surrounding it..... it will not matter.......
Perhaps in the future. It might not benefit Great America ever in my opinion, but there are other parks in the chain that it could benefit (espically the smaller ones)
