I did about 2 weeks of phonecalls to SFGAm and the recycling compony in Zion. SFGAm said that the Zion scrapyard had bought it and that I needed to go down there to ask. So I called them first to get permission on Thursday, they said I could get one piece. I had my mom drive me down there (I have no car yet) and I just told the lady
@ the desk that I'm that guy. So a worker comes in w/ a dump truck LOADED with pieces of SW. He grabs a dirty section of the rail and that rail's support.
So, that's how I got it. Don't say I stole it, coz I didn't!
The link for all of my pics is in my signiture.
EDIT: Where's the link?! I didn't break any park rules! Put it back!!
Now, everyone don't jump down my throat for this. But...
If someone at that scrapyard in Zion was smart, they'd sell some of the pieces on ebay or something. I mean, even if only a handful of people actually wanted little pieces of Shockwave, they'd still earn some money. I am not sure how legal it is. Well, actually, it should be perfectly legal. The scrapyard bought the poor mangled coaster , they could probably sell pieces of it if they wanted to.
I know I would like a little piece. But I am too damn lazy to drive all the way to Zion (I'm in Chicago - long drive), and I am not too good with the whole pleading thing. heh.
I'm just saying it would be an interesting idea.
i'm just glad someone was able to get a piece. that was my fav ride, it'll always have a place in my heart, i know that sounds all mushy-like but i really loved that thing...
Thats true. My friends call corporate a couple times a month and Rick Goff(sp?) told them the park hasnt been selected yet. That was just last month. So I dont know how fast they can pick a park to send them off to.
From what I have heard, the trains have been split up, I heard that Magic Mountain got one of the trains and Great Adventure has the other trains. That may not be true, but that is what I have heard.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.

Wow, isn't that extremely heavy? How'd you carry that?

The thing weighs about 100 pounds. I can barely lift it from the trunk, to the ground, then to the wagon. I only took it out of the wagon to take photos. It makes a good 1-piece weight set.
Damn! 100lbs. See, I wouldn't want that big a piece, I'd have no where to put it. But then again, I guess even a tiny little piece would be quite heavy. Yeah, I guess I'm a little slow. heh.
