Question about Deja Vu downtime

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Raging_Bull on October 5th, 2004, 3:59 pm
First of all I'd like to say I'm new here and I'm happy I found a pretty active forum about GA :D. I'm from Evanston, don't know if anyone else here is.

Anyways, unfortunately I only got to GA a few times this summer, and now I'm away at college so no fright fest for me. I didn't get on Vu this year, and when I was there in July I was told that it was only running on the weekends for the most part. Was this the case for the majority of the summer, and will it probably be running more next year? I just got dissapointed each time I went when I saw the sign that said "The following attractions will not be opening today: Deja Vu ":x . Of course there's tons of other great coasters at GA, just curious about Vu. Thanks!
1. Voyage
2. X
3. Millenium Force
4. Top Thrill Dragster
5. Raging Bull

It was actually doing rather well the first part of the summer, then, it just sort of died. I wouldn't count on it being open during FF. Then again, it does do better in cold weather. So who knows?

Welcome to SFGAmWorld.

Deja Vu was running all season except for a few times:

1) (I was at SFGAm when this happened) Deja Vu got stuck in its boomerang during a test run.

2) Deja Vu got stuck in between its loop and boomerang

That's all I know so far.

Welcome Raging_Bull! I don't go to GA as much as some people here, but the Vu didn't run much this year at all. I lose track of the days in the summer (who doesn't?) so my answer is as good as Dubya's.
How much longer can I last until Opening Day! ARRRRGH!

Welcome to the forums! :)

First of all, read the forum rules. I already noticed that your signature is more than two or three lines. I don't want to be rude, but I just wanted to make sure that you knew all the rules before you keep posting.

As for Deja Vu, many problems have occurred. A common one is a miscatch, where the catch car fails to catch the train on the second tower to pull it up and drop it again. If you look, there are many topics about this subject that have been brought up other days when Deja Vu was down. You can get some more answers there. For next year, we can only hope that it will be open more.

Now I know where you got your sn from. J/K  :D

Yeah, it's hard to say. I do remember comments from May and June about it doing much better than last year.

I was born in Evanston...does that count?

about Vu - I've only been to the park a few times this summer, but I didn't get to ride it once. but I'd take the word of these guys if they say its been operating regularly. I must've caught it on bad days.

as for Fright Fest, just take a trip home from school and go then. that's what I'm doing. yumm...homecooked food and Great America. can't get better than that!
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Are you serious? Dejavu was open more this season than it has ever been, it has been shut down this year mostly for staffing reasons thats about it.

I was born on the southside, but i'm not a soxfan, does that answer your question?

anyway, Deja always breaks down, when its ok there's usually no ride op to operate it, so in any case, Just sit on a bench next to it and watch the train get dustier and watch the paint get splotchier
Goodbye 11/9!

That's untrue, Deja Vu never got stuck inbetween the loop and boomerang this season. The only valley was in the cobra roll, and it was down for less then a week when that happened.

DejaVu, like others have said, has been the most consistant that it has ever been. Yes, there were a couple of periods where it was down for a week or so, but other than that, it has been running pretty good. Also, whoever told you that is was only running weekends in July was misinformed. It ran when it could run.(Unless because of staffing issues.)

My life is busy, I've only made 6 trips down this year. All except one time I've been there it has been closed. So based on what I've seen, it hasn't been running alot.

Deja Vu has been open everyday I have been at the park this year except 3. I have been to the park 14 times this year. Last year Deja Vu was only open 4 times out of 12 trips. Thats almost the complete oppasiate of last year. Granted many times it has only ran from opening to 5 or from noon to 6ish but thats because of staffing as well.

Overall: I've only seen Deja Vu have major problems operate on opening day and basically during the month of May. Staffing has been the major problem. King Chaos has been down much more than this.

Deja Vu has been open 29 of my 33 visits this year. I have gotten on it 57 times, mainly due to being stuck on rides and getting one time use exit passes. I still have one left, and I plan on making it to 60 this season.

Yes I got to ride it too on opening day, around 4:30 and after almost 10 miscatches.
