Is It Worth The Trip?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I'm not talking about Dunkin Donuts, but the Scenic Railway. Do you take the train just to get to the other side of the park? Considering that the train takes about 7-8 minutes to get from one station to the other, is that a better way to get from the Whizzer to IW? A word of advice, the time with Bugs Bunny are usually not right.

Do you go on the train just to see what's going on in the park? For instance, do you check how long the lines are or want to see what SFGAm is keeping in the back?

I heard that Sky Trek Tower is the longest ride in the park, but doesn't the train take the cake?

I would estimate that it would take about 10 minutes (without stopping) to get from Triple Play to IW. However, you have the fact that the train is not always there.

This brings me to another question. Why did they get rid of the two trains on one track scenario? Did it have do something with the train is never crowded enough for that? For Fright Fest, they should use both trains.

Also, how can they control the squeking? Can they oil up the wheels, or is just that the track is so old that they need new track?

Speaking of tracks, did they put new tracks for the parade route? I'm talking about the tracks the floats go on. I know that they put new pavement, but it looks like the tracks are new.

The train is absolutly great when there are long lines in the middle of the day and your tired and hot. As for all your other questions-I have no idea-but it would be imposssible if they kept the same Scooby Doo show during fright fest and have two trains. The actors wouldn't be able to get to their places fast enough.

For Fright Fest, they should use both trains.

They do, they cut it in half so they can fit it in the station so everyone can see the show and run 2 trains.
It takes about 7 minutes to get to County from Hometown and about 9 minutes to get to Hometown from County. It's a great ride I ride it all the time.
Also, how can they control the squeking? Can they oil up the wheels, or is just that the track is so old that they need new track?

Erlier this season it was squeking like crazy, I went on it yesterday and it was running smooth, quiet, and fast.

The train is a great ride: gives you a time to relax and rest, sit and be transferred to the other side of the park, and gives passengers a good view of the park, where you cannot see from the midway. Very scenic.

Did anyone notice the new parade tracks? They look "newer" to me than they did before.

Tracks do indeed look new. Who knows?

I love the train! It's a great way to sit down and relax. I also like the sky trek tower because not only can you sit down and relax, but you get a great view of the park and its air conditioned!

Either way you can't go wrong.

Agreed with Sky Trek. I've ridden that a bunch this year. The AC is great on hot days and it gives an awesome view.

I have more Sky Trek Tower rides than I do V2 and Deja Vu this year. I ride STT atleast once a visit, but I think I've been on it 10 times.

Me to, probably because it's better than V2.

Me too, only because V2 and Deja Vu have been down so much.

The train is a good ride for crowded days because you get to sit on the bench when you wait. If you want to get to the other side of the park fast, the train is not for you. Only a ride like Delta Flyer/Eagles Flight (when we still had it) could do that and offer a ride.
