I was wondering if SFGAm could use the lake ( river, or stream) as it is near SUF and put a rollercoaster or another ride there. Whizzer has somewhat of the same thing. I might sound stupid asking, but was that once a full lake or river where Whizzer is?
Someone said that the water from the parking lot drains there, but it seems a little far fetched considering that they could dispose of it somewhere else. It's also cool to see the purifying they do in back of Roaring Rapids (as seen on the train). It reminds me of a water plant I went to and they had bigger ones.

That "Lake" by Superman is a man made lake made by the Marriott Corp. It actually feeds the water for the fire protection in the park (fire hydrents) and all of the sprinklers in the flower beds. If you look at a shot from PGA they have one too almost in the same spot. Actually at PGA a piece of Top Gun (their Batman) goes over this "Lake".
It looks pretty bad looking for doing something so productive. I guess that's why you need purifying stations. Did they actually put the support in the "lake" or just the rollercoaster over it? It's probably just the rollercoaster goes over it and not the support in it. Does the Whizzer "lake" do anything special?

I remember that when S:UF came in, Screamscape ( ) said that where Shockwave was, a whole new Superhero section would be built and Superman would be built over the lake. As we saw with the PGA picture a ride can be built there, but S:UF obviously, was not.
SUF is not that far from it. If you are going to live next to an amusement park, wouldn't you expect noise? Duh!!! If I lived on a main street, it would also be noisy. Instead of complaining about a ride close to their house (it's not that close), you think they would be getting mad about the 12 a.m. closings for C.A.D. and Fright Fest.

You can't get rid of that lake. For every X amount of acres of devlopment, you must have Y acres of retaining pond. In all modern new subdivisions you have to have a pond somewhere.
Greatamerica2003 (the member) posted a very good explination a while back. Do a search-you'll learn a lot.
greatamerica2003 wrote:And you have to remember that because that swamp was there before 1976, it would take care of a lot of the floodwaters. So the park, with its rather large paved areas, has taken away that natural water retention feature. So where does all that water go?
Downhill, right into the river. There is a pond that the park owns for SOME stormwater runoff, but not all of it.
I understand that you need a pond to get rid of water, but you could build OVER it (if Gurnee residents would let you) some ride such as they did at PGA.
Does anyone know if the Whizzer "swamp" does the same thing???

The residents would never let them build over that. Besides that brings up a ton of more issues. They'd need to get paths out there, there's an access road over that direction, etc. But yeah, the residents seem to already complain about things, so they'd never be able to build near the pond.
