Vertical Velocity's seating

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Galvan on June 21st, 2004, 11:10 pm
For whatever reason, it seems that on V2 most of the boarderline people who can or cannot fit on the train sit on the row closest to the air gates.

I myself who until recently could not get on the ride have also found that if you sit in row 12 and the seat on the left, you will with help make it on the ride. In talking to some of the ride op's they have said that for whatever reason, that the Seat belts are a tad bit longer on the Left side then the right.

Also Row 12 Left seat has for whatever reason a longer belt and thus more accomidating.

Just thought you'd want to know.

yep, left side belts are a bit longer, I have actually never ridden V2 on the right side, I only fit on the left (though as a recent development, I dont fit on either side though I am currently working on loosing a few lbs) :)

Roller coasters are literally the only thing keeping me from gaining weight, lol :P Some people stay thin to look good, others do it to be able to ride coasters :)

On a side note - Isnt it true that some coasters such as B&M's usually have a row with deeper seats for this reason? I remember reading about how RB has row 7 I beleive a little deeper then the rest of the seats?

I have never heard of anything like that, yet I never knew about the looser belts on the left, so it may be true

Several Parks Six Flag K.K. uses a add on belt for larger people on the Thunder Run. B. G. Williamsburg does the same accoring to a sign on row five of Alpiengiest. I think V2 is very restictive for everyone, I beleive it's the configuration of the u harness. I also see many people turned away I think Great America should try to get as many people on rides as possible. What worries me about future generations who are already taller then me at 6 2 they wont be able to ride several G.A. attractions, just for being too tall. So now your too small, over weight, or now too tall whats next?

This with the seatbelt is also true for V2's older brother Steel Venom. Sit on the airgate side and you have a better shot at a ride. Strang how that works. They should put a sign up for larger guests so that so many do not have to be rejected from getting a ride.

If you notice, there are 2 clips for the seat belt. If all the belt were the same length, a lttle longer than they are now, then the ride will be able to accomedate more people. Why only make a few longer?

Yea...I think all the seatbelts are different lengths depending on the rows, sometimes my dad has trouble closing his harness because of the different lengths and has to switch seats with me...thats kind of strange isn't it?

But once they start making seatbelts too long then they are totally contradicting what is being done on the Intamin trains and making seatbelts shorter and more restrictive. The reason the belts are the length they are is because it is possible that some people could slide out the bottom if the seatbelts were any longer. Ahh... Intamin restraints... no one knows!
