Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
What lifts sky trek tower? Why do they leave the cabin at the top of the tower, how would the operator get out?

Its operated from the ground, and i believe it is cable driven.
There are stairs on the inside of the Shaft too.

Are you sure about that? If so, where's the cable located? I know Condor has a cable and a motor.

Does anyone have an up-close picture of it? Papas, since it seems that you are always there, can you take a pic of it? One time, and then you can go back on the Demon.

I feel stupid for asking this but...why do they stick the cabin at the top of the ride when it's not operating? (FF/Off-season)

It's not really to stabilize it better. The cabin is counterweighted, therefore no matter where it is, it'll be sabilized just the same. It's actually to protect the cables. If they park it at the top, the cables are inside the tower and therefore can't be damaged by weather. Wind can make the cables slap around on the tower, as rain can wash off the lubricant. That's observation tower cabin parking in a nutshell.

It's not so anyone messes with it? The cables are inside (supposedly), so what does that matter? I really have to check this out now.

The cables are on the outside, and when the cabin goes to the top, the cable isnt exposed

The engine could be underneath the ride, not inside it

Why don't they stick Condor up on top at the end of the day?

Condors a totally different situation, Condor Isnt as balanced or centered to the center pole as stt is, plus there is alot more exposed mechanical parts on COndor, and I believe (Ive seen it once a couple years back, havent looked lately) that they cover condors pods with a tarp.
