Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Yea the last thing you should worry about is the highway and toll booths. Unless you really want to add more stress to your life...

FAIRFIELD...
Fairfield Inn is located on Gurnee Mills Circle. You will take Grand Avenue West off the tollway and then turn right at the first light. Continue straight past Lone Star and it will be on the right side facing the tollway, near Kohl's. If you get to Bass Pro Shops you've gone too far.
It shares a parking lot with Steak 'n Shake (I believe it is sectioned off though). You can't miss it.
P.S. I-PASS also works wonders when it comes to tolls. Too bad Six Flags doesn't have an I-PASS lane. Hey, that wouldn't be a bad idea for next year!

Wait a minute.
You are coming from Louisville as I understand it.
If that's the case, you will never have to be on I-90.
You will cross over it but never actually get on it.
Check your driving directions again.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

This is easy direction since i have gone to Louisville:
From Louisville:
I-65 THROUGH Indiana to I-80,I-80 TO I-294 continue on 294 past Ohare International airport. Pass through Deerfield Toll which then turns into I-94 exit ILL Rte. 132 (Grand Ave.)
Total Drive Time: about 5 hours **Remember One Hour Time change as soon as you enter Indiana**
65,80,294,94 easy

online map directions are crappy...
hmmm so the best route to take from louisville is
I-65 up to I-80, then get on I-294 until that turns into I-94..then exit on route 132
and I suppose to get home the same thing just backwards...get on I-94, I-294, I-80 and I-65 back home....
I have to check my atlas when I get home
Here is what mapquest told me...which sounds right * SHOCKING *
1: Start out going Southwest on VIM DR toward FRANK AVE. 0.2 miles Map
2: Turn RIGHT onto PRESTON HWY/KY-61. 0.6 miles Map
3: Merge onto I-65 N via the ramp- on the left- toward LOUISVILLE/INDIANAPOLIS. 113.5 miles Map
4: Merge onto I-465 W via exit number 106. 19.7 miles Map
5: Merge onto I-65 N via exit number 20- on the left- toward CHICAGO. 136.6 miles Map
6: Merge onto I-80 W via exit number 259A toward CHICAGO (Portions toll). 19.4 miles Map
7: Take I-294 N toward WISCONSIN (Portions toll). 48.7 miles Map
8: Merge onto I-94 W (Portions toll). 16.4 miles Map
9: Merge onto IL-132 W/GRAND AVE. 0.7 miles Map
10: Turn RIGHT onto GURNEE MILLS CIR E. 0.8 miles Map
11: End at 6090 Gurnee Mills Blvd E Gurnee IL
Sounds like I would have to pay for 3 toll booths...but thats ok...19 days to go...

I-294 is the bypass, right? It might be quicker to just take I-90/94 (which is the Skyway, I believe) instead of the bypass.

Yeah I didnt see any big difference...other than I-90/94 takes you thru chicago...which would be neat to drive thru...unless you think traffic would be bad...

I dont really care much about a dollar toll, but construction is something I would want to stay away from, especially if its confusing.
I would like to drive by Chicago and see the lake...that would really be neat to see since most of my drive will be a very boring trek on I-65

It's pretty hard to see the lake from 94. On the other hand, Soldier Field sticks out like a sore thumb. If you have extra time, an afternoon in Chicago along the lake is pretty nice. You can easily walk between the planetarium, aquarium, and museum. Navy Pier is also a lot of fun. You have to be sure to go inside while you're there, too.
