I don't find Demon to be rough, but I can understand why other people do. It's those hard over the shoulder restraints.
If they replaced those trains with those found on blue Hawk and marketed it well, I think Demon would become a hit with the general public again.
It's the same thing with Viper at Magic Mountain. It's a great ride; it's just the head banging caused by those outdated over the shoulder restraints that makes the ride unboreable for many people.
Goku1910 wrote:Trains are only part of it. Not the magical solution people think it is.
The real issue is the profiling of the transition into the corkscrews.
Yeah, that was kind of like Shockwaves mid-course break. That thing whipped.
New trains won't fix the transition, but it would definitely improve the overall ride experience and reduce alot of head banging
One of the main reasons I preferred viper at magic mountain over shockwave. The transition to the mid-course break didn't have the hard turn like shockwave did
I think the only ride on this list that isn't going anywhere is Whizzer. As for Roaring Rapids, didn't they just do a major overhaul and dump some big $ into it? If the flumes go , a ride like Poseidon would be awesome to fill that space! Maybe we can get the "world's largest and longest water roller coaster" ?

Here's the thing. How much work did we actually see get done and how much has up-time has the ride really had since it was supposed to reopen?
When I looked at it after the supposed rehab, I couldn't spot any difference in the surface of the river rapids' floor or walls. My bet would be they got a quote of what was needed and then opted for a patch job instead when the price tag was revealed.
I would agree Rapids and Flumes are actually at risk. They are old and not really well kept.
I'm honestly all in favor of removing the Rapids. Compared to the flumes, I never found the Rapids fun, even the one at Disney World. I wouldn't mind if a new coaster was placed there of course, but I wouldn't mind if the Theater Royale and the Trafique Jam were still there from the Marriott days.

I doubt Condor will leave since it is still very popular when it is open, it isn't on that large of a plot of land, and it recently underwent a major refurbishment. Unlike the Rapids, the Condor refurbishment was completed entirely.

Exactly. I agree with Galvan, I think the rapids are definitely not going to be around for much longer.
I wish Cedar Fair would bury the hatchet with Intamin. I would love to see something like Velocicoaster or Maverick in that plot of land. That would be a smash hit with the general public as well as enthusiasts

Blue Toad - I agree with you and hope you're right! Leave Condor right where it is. And instead they can remove Hometown JUNK Machine! Low capacity and more or less does the same thing as Fiddlers does.

Just because they’re old doesn’t mean they’re going away. I just rode Knoebel’s Giant Flume after it reopened this year and it’s amazing! I don’t know if it had fiberglass before like ours but it’s now all made of metal. And it had a super long line. (Ride originally opened in 1990)
As far as rapids rides go, there are tons of these all over the world. If these were in danger more of them would be closing. Any of you guys ride Mystic River Falls at Silver Dollar City? That is an amazing ride!!!
I think it’ll be absolutely hilarious if Great America got rid of their water rides on the dry side. At that point, close the kiddie areas as well and just make it a roller coaster park. What’s the point in having any family rides if you’re just gonna replace them with roller coasters when they get old?

Oh no doubt our park fans will be pissed too. There would be backlash and outcry a La Whizzer in 2002 lol.
^^ Mystic River Falls is probably one of the best water rides I've ever been on! That addition they put on with the huge vertical lift and fun slide down at the end was awesome!

Yeah it’s a super fun ride!! Definitely a must ride when you visit that park.

LOL, I had no idea that existed until a couple years ago. It's hidden pretty well since it blends into the surrounding scenery. It never has a line. I think that that spot underneath Whizzer has some potential for a neat flat that interacts with Whizzer. A Sunkid Rocking Tower over that straight section that leads into the turn around the lift would be awesome!

I think i'm in the minority in that i see Great America more successful as a family park than a coaster park. Like looking at both Great Adventure and Magic Mountain they're both coaster parks with tons of problems. Great Adventure is ugly and is bare without its star while Magic Mountain can't keep all their coasters open and are always removing their other rides, while also having a similar problem in park appearance. These 2 parks are the reason i'm not too fond of moving Great America in that direction, Fiesta Texas does a wonderful job with themed attractions and i hope the same for Great America.
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back
Projects like bringing back the X-Flight music and overhauling Batman are more in line with what SFFT would do rather than SFMM or SFGAd. But there is still no verdict how each park operates/will change going forward post merger.
