My mom has had the hardest time with ae viper and v2 and the easiest with rb what has everyone else noticed in regards to which coasters larger riders cant ride?
I'll field this one Jim. I have a very easy time on Whizzer, DEMON, & TDK, AE and Viper I have to buckle the belt first then lower the Lap Bar. If your mother is big in the hips or bust absolutely forget Batman. I don't make Superman, RB, V2 Xflight and have seen the loading platform video of Goliath it looks like a single position hydraulic lap bar (think River Rocker restraints) so again a no go. Being V2 and Giant Drop are made by the same company I just assumed i won't be getting on it. Fluffy friendly flats are most of them with the following exceptions: Revolution big offender needs 3 clicks to run, I have seen thin but built guys get turned away because their muscles wouldn't allow an extra click. King Chaos take the end seat dont sit next to anyone big as their spillage might effect you (it happened to me at FF a large girl spilled over into my seat and they said it was me when she took up 2 seats) River Rocker the middle 2 rows are the roomiest, it gets increasingly tighter the closer to the points you sit. Jesters Wild Ride same story as River Rocker only in reverse the largest here are on the ends and even then you might only get one or two clicks. Whirligig not the best for large thighs/hips/derriers as you need to buckle the lap bar. Condor 2 cannot ride together if large as there really isnt much room and the belt would need to go around you both plus exiting can be tight. Orbit is the reverse harder to get into than out of. Roaring Rapids while it is fluffy friendly the belt may or may not go on you both, if this happens one of you may need to wait for the next boat. Everything else is fairly fluffy friendly Crawler has some belts that are longer than others. Friendliest are STT, Carousel, Train, Chubasco, BB, LR, YC, RLD, BEB, FF, Ricochet Hope this helps.
I'll never forget this scene from a few years ago- It was almost closing time on a busy and miserably hot day towards the end of daily operation. The group of people I was with went to Raging Bull to close out the day. While waiting in the station, a pretty big woman boarded near the middle of the train and was attempting to lock the lap bar. She struggled with it for a bit until a ride up came along and tried to help by putting his weight on the lap bar, and then another joined. By this time, it had turned into a full-blown scene; the trains were stacked, and the station got quiet as people began to notice what was going on. After a minute or two (no doubt it probably felt like an hour for the woman) of the attendants throwing all their weight on the restraint, they gave up and that was that. Can't imagine what was going through that woman's mind.
I'll also take this one for $200.00 Muck. As it has happened to me on more than one occasion. You feel shame, hurt, extreme embarrassment, longing for the day you will be thin enough to ride, also there is nothing that can sadden your day faster than not fitting on something, and being surrounded by comfort food is not a help. It really does not feel good, and people snickering, laughing and making their little snide comments cuts deep....real deep. People need to realize that.
It's funny this topic came up today. When I worked at the park in the early 2000s I weighed no more than 160 and am 6' 2" tall, I could get on pretty much anything, however being my height I remember always being questioned at Shockwave and Demon because the restraints looked like they weren't down far enough due to my height.
Flash forward to yesterday. I'm about 70lbs heavier with a gut that is annoying me. River Rocker I went on and was damn near squished to death as the lab bar decided to squeeze my insides when it came down and went up.
Had to remove my keys clipped to my side multiple times just to fit in to American Eagle as that was super snug.
Are whirligig's seats even made for adults? While I fit into it, I felt like the steel piping was digging in to my hips and back.
V2's restraint system I couldn't see the seatbelt lock so I was stuggling to get it locked, however I don't remember having to slouch to get the restraints down far enough and then I still had to suck it in a tad to get the seatbelt to lock. (Still had to have the operator lock the belt while I slouched/sucked and pulled down the restraint
Goliath is by far the worst. X Flight outside of Row 4 is bad as well. V2 and B:TR are tight but doable. Didn't have any problems with AE, Viper, Demon, Whizzer or TDK. Haven't ridden RB, S:UF or GD in a while, so I can't comment on them.
X-Flight is by far the worst for me. I barely fit because I'm 6 foot 2 with somewhat big shoulders. It's the seat buckle that gets you. However, when I went on Thunderbird, some of the seat buckles were longer than the others. I don't know what the deal is.
I know what you mean about seat belts crawler has them some different lengths on different arms. Also ride manufacturers need to know who they are making rides for, not everyone is 5'11" 185# some people are taller, heavier, shorter, thinner. I mean its not a blanket excuse to go and eat a whole pie or cake etc, its just some people can lose it some cannot. I think in terms of flats anything by Zamperla is just about the worst! My question is if Disney can do 'Pooh Bear" seats why can't other parks. I have a friend large guy, can hardly ride anything at Six Flags but Disney was able to get on everything.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
