Collection of Great America Videos

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby viper1988 on December 19th, 2009, 2:44 am
So I thought it would be smart to start an on going collection of videos of Six Flags Great America. Most are commercials but some are historic videos that I just found on the internet. Please contribute your own as you find them! Hope you enjoy!

Seeing those clips of Shockwave reminds me of how much more intense of a ride it was than Scream Machine at GADV and Viper at MM, the double loop without any trims was insane. Its kinda depressing knowing I used to do monster marathons on Shockwave all the time and nowadays my body probably wouldnt like that very much

^Yeah I agree about the double loops. I thought they were more forceful then the loops on Batman. And after riding Viper and GASM, I still liked shockwave better. However, my favorite double loop on any coaster has to be Mindbender at Galaxyland (INSANE) .

I'm pretty sure there was one though I don't remember it. I do remember though that that years Empire Carpet commercial showed a lot of Giant Drop.

There was a commercial with some song. It was like

"ohh..ohh...l want to touch the sky, I want to fly so high"
And it showed Giant Drop and all the coasters. But I don't know if that was the same year as Giant Drop or not.

I think that was 01, when they brought in the mini remote controlled helicopter w/camera for all the aerial shots.

It's not that hard to post a video on YouTube. I would really like to see the Pre-Mr. Six commercials!

Probably the best commercial they've had. It did have some nice footage in there.

That was in 2001 when they built Vertical Velocity and Deja Vu. I really liked that commercial for some reason.

My favorite commercial out of the ones you posted is the first one of 1993. It mentions rides by name of what the park has to offer. They are roller coasters, but I don't like how they mention anything Disney because they are helping Disney. In commercials, you mention your product, and that's it, or in detergant commercials, it's okay to say "the leading brand". Otherwise, if people don't like your product, they might try the product you are telling them (even though negative).

To me, in Six Flags commercials, they miss the boat. They usually have one side of the commercials, but not the other side. For awhile, it's always been about roller coasters. Of course, they are going to mention Wiggle's World now because it's new, but they need 2 different types of commercials per year at least in my opinion to get everything to come to the park.

Yes, you do need a roller coaster orientated commercial, but in my opinion you also need a kid plus toddler commercial with your Wiggle's World, Camp Cartoon area, and you need rides like Triple Play, Big Easy Balloons, Whirligig, The Orbit, Hometown Fun Machine, Jester's Wild Ride, and so on. They have so many rides that they never mention, and to people that watch those commercials, hey it's a teen park with just roller coasters. They can even have a waterpark commercial too if they wanted to. It's 3 groups of people this park could target. Waterpark people, thrill seekers, and kids/toddlers.

For the 2007 one, and now, they are so worried about selling season passes than worried about getting people to the park. Sell the park (as in for people to go to the park), and than the season pass.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
