Six Flags St Louis experiencing same thing as Great America?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Park News - (10/27/08) Local sources tell us that Six Flags has decided to paint Mr. Freeze. From what I’ve heard one of the lower sections has already been given a Red / Blue test paint coat, which indicates that they will paint it to likely look just like the one in Texas with dark blue supports and red track. In other news, we’ve heard a rumor going around claiming that Tidal Wave’s days are numbered and that it will likely be removed sometime over the next 12 months to make way for a possible 2010 attraction.

MY comparison

Mr. Freeze (their star attractaion) is getting repainted just like Ragin Bull (our star attraction I guess) Raging Bull. But keep on reading cause it gets funky.

They are taking down their Tidal Wave, which is weird because it is just like our Splash Water Falls but blue. I went on it last year and I thought it was perfectly fine.

Here is where it gets weird. They are thinking of adding a "Buccaneer Battle" in that sight for 2010. IT is mentioned in the paragraph below.

2010 - New Water Ride - Rumor - (9/8/08) While it’s always hard to judge what is going to happen this far in advance, I’ve heard that the park may already be talking about removing the Tidal Wave ride at some point to make way for a new attraction in 2010. From the sound of things, this could end up being the same kind of Splash Battle attraction that is currently going into Six Flags Great America in 2009. Stay tuned!

Anyone else find this really weird? I sure did

Is Mr. Freeze really St.L's star coaster? When I was there, it was Batman that had the longest line, The Boss was pretty popular, too.

Umm, I don't find it weird, it's Six Flags switching to more of a family destination. It's been happening in St. Louis for the last 5-7 years, this is no different.

When I went in July, Batman and Boss were walk ons. Mr Freeze was the longest, but I dont know if its their star ride just like our Six Flags isnt known for Raging Bull. (i think).

But I find it very weird. How come this isnt happening to any other Six Flags?

Freeze had the longest line cause it has the lowest capacity, and if the park wasn't busy it was likely only running one side.

Actually it was both. The line was really long and went by the quickest. Tony Hawk had an hour wait but tahts beacuse it was new. What do you think about the thread ^^^^?

Honestly when I think of SFStl the only thing that seems like a star attraction to me would be Evel Kinevil. But even that dosent really ring a huge bell in my head.

I just think its more of a coincidence, and we're all just really thinking way too hard about this.

Freeze is definately St. Louis' star attraction, at least in the group that i go with's opinion. We've gone to St. Louis numerous times and this is the best ride. TBH we only ride Boss to get "hurt." Way too rough of a ride, but we ride it anyway. What about Screamin Eagle? GREAT ride. Do you guys remember how long the que line is for Boss? Unbelievable, don't know what the people were thinking when they built it, but we ride it for the hell of it. Batman is always fun, little different from ours here. Didn't get to make it out to St. Louis this year, but i'd be surprised if Evil would be up there with star attractions. Will be interesting to see Freeze, that is if we get to make it out to St. Louis in 09...

Yeah, The Boss' queue line was astronomical. Batman's was too. That garden section was approximately the size of Rhode Island.

Freeze is one of the iconic rides of the park. The last time I was there, I remembered seeing it and the Ferris Wheel specifically before anything else. It's definitely one of the rides that pulls people into the park.

I never would have guessed the Boss would have an empty que. When my relatives go, they say it is always full. Oh well, heres hoping for empty lines when I go on the 7th and 8th of next month.

Tidal Wave was so old school! It was shorter than SWF, I believe, and instead of water at the top, it rolled on wheels! It was crazy and the shortest wait in the park.

In case you didn't know, SFSL and SFGAm are both Six Flags parks. Therefor, it isn't that weird they are getting a similar ride, if they are.

Also, Mr. Freeze needed a repainting. It was turning brown and light blue. And the one in Texas got one a while ago, so it was obvious they were giving the St. Louis one a paint job as well.

Ummm I know that they are both Six Flags. I am just saying its weird how they repaint their tallest coaster, take out the same type of ride....and put in the same one.

Six Flags has been repainting a number of coasters like Batman and Mr. Freeze at SFOT, technically Batman from SFNO (which is now Goliath) at SFFT, X at SFMM, Raging Bull at SFGAm, V2 and Medusa at SFDK, and that's all I can think of now. So, it's not just those two parks that are getting painted needs. Medusa at SFGAdv is probably going to get new paint next year because they are retheming. Superman at SFNE might be getting new paint.

The Bucanneer Battle at SFStL is just a rumor right now. Heck, someone could have started this rumor because of exactly what we are getting now. The Shoot-the-Chute rides are old, and are a cheap thrill in my opinion. Why not get rid of them? They go up, and in 20 seconds you are soaked. The only time I wanted to go on it was just because I was hot. It wasn't because I was really going to enjoy it. I just wanted water on me.

^I think they are doing it that color just to get attention because it's such a tall roller coaster. My theory on this was that for Texas, it was so hot outside that it was like Mr. Freeze was warming up. For St. Louis, to me it's harder to think about that, but during the summer it is hot. They probably just thought this coaster is so high up in the air, and it's blue. People from the highway aren't noticing it. Let's make it bright red because red is such a bright color on the color spectrum ROY G BIV.

Great America is being treated similar to Great Adventure in NEW JERSEY and New England in MASS for the last few years.

2007 : Six Flags Great America- Wiggle's World
2007 : Six Flags Great Adventure- Wiggle's World
2007 : Six Flags New England- Wiggle's World

2008 : Six Flags Great America- Dark Knight (Supposedly, the Better of the 2)
2008 : Six Flags Great Adventure- Dark Knight (Can Someone tell me in Detail how this Version is Worse)
2008 : Six Flags New England- Was Supposed to add a Dark Knight but got rejected from City Council

The rides are exactly the same, other than SFGAm's queue line being in the old theater (and a better looking entrance) there is no difference.

Mr. Freezes paint looks awesome, the old faded/rusty blue looked disgusting. Superman at SFNE is getting painted purple which means there will probably be a complete re-theme.

^The only major differences I have heard or seen from the two Dark Knights is that most of SFGAdv line is outside (basically our theater part inside lines (up until the video)-They have to be outside.), and the exit door over there is supposed to be right near the ride, and somehow light gets in the structure. Also, people can see most of the layout while exiting. That's what I heard diferently.

Also, I think why people hate it more there is because that park seems have to more bigger and badder roller coasters than our park with Medusa, Nitro, Superman, Kingda Ka, Great American Scream Machine, Batman, and El Toro.
