Six Flags Great America lockers

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I think you are both wrong. Too many people were losing their stuff or injuring others on the rides by bringing items on them. Oh wait you were gonna leave it on the side of the ride, now when somebody steals it is it the parks fault? You wouldn't leave any of your electronics or items just sitting out and it's no different here. As far as charging for the lockers what do you want free lockers with keys that nobody returns? How about somebody stores their swim stuff in their the entire day. This is a safety and convience issue. Why don't you going forward get the couple of bucks underneath your car seat and use the lockers. It very little for saftey and theft control.

^ I think it's a bigger issue than it should be. I've left plenty of things in the storage bins that someone would steal. In all the parks I've been to, I've never had anything stolen. And if I forget about it, the ride ops usually save it off to the side. I've never heard of a projectile injure someone on a ride. Should baseball stadiums have shells to protect fans from fly balls that go into the stands? Of course not. And how many people suffer injuries at baseball stadiums? Next to none, Just like theme parks.

Like everything at SFGAM it is about the money, and nothing else!!!!

Universal Studio''s offers free lockers, the lockers can be used for up to two hours with no charge, so SFGAM could do the same, just like they could offer a free fastpass sytem like disney does, instead they want to fleece there guests anyway possible. Paying for lockers is just more of the same.

^ If you ordered your pass on-line before the end of December 2007, you got a coupon for one of the 2008 sports bottles.

The way I ordered my season passes for me and my family, I got 2 or 3 of these (I did one SP a paycheck, starting in November of 2007, and ordered 6 passes).

Sorry about the bad scan, but here is the coupon.

As said before, Six Flags isnt seeing a noticeable profit off of the lockers/doesnt really care about profiting off the lockers they have the rental fee in place because they do not want to eat the increased cost of having the extra staff in place as well as not wanting people to put their items in a ride locker for free all day instead of renting an all day locker. The program appears to not be going over very well, there are complaints daily to guest relations as well as a lot of very upset guests at the rides entrances, but the lockers wont be going anywhere as they are adding more on most rides right now. The reason they put them in the first place was to increase capacity/prevent stolen items, has nothing to do with safety. The lockers actually really help capacity as long as the greeter is catching everything and nobody is sneaking stuff by him. If someone does sneak something by it screws everything up bigtime though.

SF threw ideas around before starting with the lockers of sliding bins where they could close the door of one train while the other train puts their items in one side of the bin, then when the next train pulls in the op slide the door over so that train can use the other side of the bin. They were also talking about having the lockers in the station, really good idea but I guess they decided getting all the items before entering the line would help capacity more.

I have seen people being able to get by the screener with items which slows down the line, of course people who cant fit on the ride and kids too small too ride cause problems, some of which should also be caught by the screener. But causing alot of delys are people with flip flops who get off the ride to put them in bins, or just throw them anywhere which causes the ride-ops to take time to pick them up and throw them in the bin and for customers to mill around the bins after the ride looking for there flip flops.

Ive seen no evidence that the locker system is increasing the ride capacity, if that was supposedly its goal.

For things such as drinks and certain items bought at the park, you should have the choice to leave them at the station. Especially the drinks. Don't know who would want to steal someone else drink. nasty. I forgot recently American Eagle has lockers. Should have hid my diet coke better because she saw me going in (since when do they sit by the entrance?!) and I had to spent my beloved buck. Which, of course, you can always use for your re-fills all day.

Try going to Hurricane Harbor and spending $17 on a so called X-Large locker. That got me pretty mad. Its kind of hard to not bring anything to the water park especially for girls when the park policy says you are not allowed to wear bathing suits anywhere but hurricane harbor.

I have gotten many cheap drinks by doing that  I can always find a sports bottle someone left behind because they didn't want a locker. Then I took it into the bathroom, washed it out, and got me some soda for a buck. And its not stealing because its the guests stupid fault for leaving in right on the midway.

Also, what happens when they run out of lockers? How are people supposed to react when they have to pay $1 for a locker, then they run out lockers...so they cant ride then? Another idiotic thing I saw was when a kid had a drawing (just a piece of paper) he bought and they said he had to get a locker...WTF?!?!

And what if you get something that can't fit? They should say that you can leave the stuff in the station but they will not hear ANY complaints if stolen.
