If you keep the park fresh and clean, MOST people will notice this and not make a mess. But if you have gabage strewn about with garbage cans overfilled which is how it often is. escepcially in lines you are telling your guests that keeping the park clean isnt a high priorty.
Keeping the park clean by the staff will cause more guests to throw items where they belong then some tacky quip on the back of a shirt.
It’s a lot different then the No smoking. No smoking makes sense because it’s your responsibility not to smoke. It is not the parks guest responsibility to clean the park. That is the Parks job. Tell you to keep the park clean implies to you that you have to keep the park clean and Six Flags does not have people to do it. I know it may not be true but that’s what many customers will see it as.
The Shirt is not the problem, it what is written on it. And we all know it’s only a shirt. But you be surprised what a shirt like that could do. It could hurt the company’s bottom line. Customer may believe the statement is rude and not purchase anything at the park or leave early. Some customer may get mad and throw things on the floor just because they are telling you to clean up after yourself.
People shouldn't let a shirt like this bother them. I don't really get what the big deal is. I didn't think it was so hard to pick up your trash or put the cigarette butts in the thing before I read this thread. it's not that difficult. As long as people do it, which i admit, people don't always do, there's nothing to be worried about.
I don't get why people would complain over a shirt like that. If that's the way the park feels, then they feel that way. People will just have to deal with it I guess.
1) hire a ton of sweepers and assign them to a small area
2) remove all signage that reminds people not to dirty the park
3) train the employees to be friendly
4) paint the building fix roofs
IF you keep the parks kept up the people will feel more obliged ot keep it looking good too. I do not mean just floor sweepers. The bathrooms, paint jobs, more characters, and customer service.
Thats another reason why Disney has a clean park. The parks look immaculate. They work constantly to make the park look nice. People notice it. They will feel guilty if they make a mess. They will also make a conscience effert to make it clean too.
If you do not care about the customer if you start posting reminders, if the paint is pealing off the buildings, ride ops are crabby, and you will not care either

Hey sorry I just actually laughed out loud cause that reminded me of RCT so much!
Anyway in response… You guys are completely correct in your Disney statement; I feel that they have a reputation as a "clean park" unlike Six Flags as a chain. Although, Six Flags Great America is often a different story primarily because the product that the park produces is reminiscent to the high class era of a former Great America. No doubt over the years the overall feeling of the elegance of the Marriott's era has faded but I give Six Flags major props for beginning to re-instill that nostolgic feel to the park all while keeping it current.
I feel that the way in which Six Flags is implementing this plan although silly, is a giant leap in the right direction of turning around how the public views the parks overall. Don’t get me wrong those shirts are embarrassing to say the least but when you get past that their doing exactly what Mark Shapiro meant by “small steps.” If the park ever wants to achieve that status it once had or Disney has had they must do something. This is just a blatant example of what is “being done” to promote a cleaner more family friendly park atmosphere.
I for one am extremely excited to see what the effects of these new uniforms and programs will really be once they are implemented in front of the guests of the park. This is the year that I feel a true change will be felt in the park and I can’t wait to see how the public will react to the family friendly changes that have been taken place.
I am with Kyle on this one. The shirt may be stupid, yet it is a small step in the right direction. Six Flags spent 6 years in decline in the areas of guest service, maintenance, profitability, like ability, food offerings, shows, atmosphere, and park upkeep. Last year and this year are huge leaps in the right direction. I feel the shirts may be a short term implement to re-educate the public, with Park Costumes reinstatement as a long term goal. The difference between the good and the Best is the details, and I am glad that Six Flags, particularly Great America, is finally get things right and paying attention to details. Now if they could only put hardwood flooring on the carousel.
I do not think it's a good idea for ALL team members to wear this shirt, it would be best to have the sweeping crews/grounds crew (whatever they are called) and only them wear this shirt. I agree it would be tacky for ride ops, food service, etc. to wear this shirt.
