Opening day: May 5th

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This is another article that is more detailed about Wiggles World.

One of the paragraphs says that the new kids area will open with the park on May 5th.

So while not official on the SF site, the media was obviously told by the park when opening day is.

At least they're still keeping the tent. I hope the added presence of people in that part of the park doesn't contribute to loner lines for Eagle.

The Wiggles World should be good! I ended up not going to FF with my young neighbors last year, but it was actually for the better since they'll have this now. And when they're playing there , I can ride my Revy!! :D
Eh.......I got nothing.

They worded it weird. It's hard to tell if they ment the opening of Wiggles World was May 5th or that the opening of the park was May 5th....

Since they have not posted the hour yet we not 100% sure. But, from my understand all parks in the chain are going to be opening 1 week later then last year. And if you look at the hours of other Six Flags parks that have posted there hours, they are a lot different then last year. We have 10:30 AM openings Sun - Friday and 10 am openings on Saturday with 11pm closing almost every Saturday. I suspect to see changes like this at SFGAM as well.

^ I don't know if GAm will consider staying open until 11pm on Saturdays in peak season. Doesn't the village have an ordinance stating the rides must stop operating by 12am b/c of excessive noise/disruption to the people living around the park.

It's an extra hour, but when you consider the fact that everyone in line at closing time is offered a ride. some coasters could easily get it done before the hour was out (ex: Bull) but what about Vu or V2? I'm not saying they shouldn't do it, but I'm sure the park has to take this fact into consideration.

On the other hand, they use to have FF Saturday hours until 11pm.

Coasters after dark has gone to 1am before, id guess there isnt an ordinance unless it has been established recently.

There's no laws...it's just kind of unwritten. At least I think so, correct me if I'm wrong/If it changed. But as has been stated the neighbors complain, the park makes lots of noise, and on one hand I understand but on the other hand I want to strangle them because they either A. Knew they were moving in next to an amusement park, or B. were offered a substantial amount of money to relocate when the word the park was being built came out. Plus if it wasn't there, the thousands of dollars the town earns from the park wouldn't make Gurnee the lovely nice place it is to live. And while it's not exactly...I'm trying to think of some Rich city and am coming up blank so think of somewhere rich and fancy and clean and insert that here. Ooo Martha's vineyard, that sounds nice. What was I saying....Oh yeah...People Suck.

Ok. You're wrong. ;)

There is the aforementioned noise ordinance that does in fact take effect at 12am.

Do you know if this is a generic noise ordinance or one specifically directed at the park? I know we make a LOT of noise starting at 6 am... And as mentioned before we do coasters after dark until 1 AM. The rides that most bother the neighbors are S:UF, Ragin' Cajun, V2, and a little bit of Iron Wolf. The thing people complain about all the time though is people screaming, not ride noise (Usually except V2.)

EDIT :

I just finished reading through the Gurnee Municipal Code and it mentions no specific laws in regards to the park, only laws stating generic noise regulations. I believe the Municipal Code is the only set of laws that apply (Besides state/federal)
