Have you seen a cutback on the characters at our park? Do we still have the Justice League, and a million characters roaming through the park anymore? I'm not shocked to see that Shapiro's plan is not working. Don't you know that cutting everything is the way to go. It will take a couple years (100), I guess. When our park loses a lot of attendence, I know that every other park is worse because our park is one of the most attended. It's only going to get worse.

Shapiro never said that it was going to be easy, he didn't even say his ideas would be fully realized in 2006. And he grossly underestimated the negative image that Six Flags has.
Relax. Its going to take 2-3 years for things to stabilize. But you gotta make cuts somewhere.
^ Exactly. Would you rather have some characters cut and worry now, but most likely get a new big attraction a few years later, or, keep the characters, make no cuts, but never get anywhere at all?

of course his plan is not working. He raised the admission price several bucks for all parks. Then he went aheada charged a good mint for parking. The press went crazy printing stories that admission price was raised $10 then raise the parking price to $15.
The people who he is trying to attract, families with children you cannot afford to go. If Mom and dad and 3 kids want to go to SFGAM you have to pay $34.99 times 5 thats almost $200 not including food, drinks, and souveners.

Hey he doesn't sound like Bob... err.. wait.
Like was said above you've gotta have patience. I still think that he has put us on the right path, nobody ever said the path was a cakewalk. Expect to see a large slimdown of the company as the company is much too bloated. Six Flags Inc. with under 10 parks would be much much much more financially viable.

I think at some point we are going to see Six Flags looking alot like the Time Warner days with basically just the original Time Warner parks(minus SFMM it'd seem) and they will get rid of all the Six Flags imposter parks that Premeir rebranded weather they were really SF material or not.

Oh heavens me! What will we do Batman and Robin are back in school because its after peak time of the season, and the college kids they hired are going back to the books.
Ilovthevu, it never ceases to amaze me how you forecast all this gloom and doom for the company, yet you never provide any real answers as to how it should be fixed. You never really give anything except hot air on how Six Flags should spring up more and more 20 million dollar coasters.

Why bother anymore. It's completely useless.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
I think the current management group at SFGAM is on the right track and what they are trying to do is the right way to go.
But i think it will take time and money to implement the changes they are trying to make.
Reducing attendance isnt a bad thing if you get rid of the crappy customer base that detracts from the enjoyment of the park by the majority of visitors who behave themselves.
I think it will take several years and getting rid of several parks before the company can turn ther corner.
While SFGAM is run very well for a SF park, i was at SFKK for a couple of hours a few days ago and it was just a awful experience and this is a park that either the company doesnt care about or hasnt gotten the message Shapiro is trying to send out.
So while i wouldnt buy the stock at this point, i do think the company is in going in the right direction and i have found my experience's at SFGAM to be excellant this year.
though i wish the characters would stay around (mostly for the kids, some for the entertainment), if they have to be cut down then it has to happen. Shapiro is figuring out how to make this work, and it's going to take more than a year to make it work....we'll see how that goes.

Believe it or not Galvan, you are wrong. School is not the reason why we are seeing less characters.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu
I was wondering if Six Flags could have some characters that are from Disney in there parks. If the Great Escape is able to to have an Alice maze, how come Six Flags can't have any dressed up characters. Technically, the costumes are sold on the Internet, and Six Flags could buy a number of them for employees to wear. They could even have some rides that are named after Disney characters.
There was some park I have seen there website, and they have actually had an Alice show in which someone is dressed like her. If they can do that, why can't Six Flags.
