SFGAm cut some hours

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SFGAmfan on July 31st, 2006, 4:48 pm
After reading in another forum that Six Flags has cut hours at other parks, I looked at SFGAm's operating calender and sure enough, it looks as though some of our hours were cut. The park closes earlier during the weekdays in August than orginially posted. Fright Fest hours are cut as well, with the park closing at 10pm instead of 11pm on Saturdays, as well as closing at 8pm instead of 9pm on Sundays.

Sure as heck, they did cut them.

After reading on another forum like yourself, I checked the hours and it was not changed. They just changed the new hours within the last couple of hours.

Oh well, at least we still have FF. SFDL just had their FF cutoff altogether.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Yea, I looked at the hours earlier today and they were still the original hours and then I checked it not too long ago and they changed. I think its a mistake to close at 10pm on Saturdays during Fright Fest, but I guess Six Flags had to do what they had to do.

The phrase : " Check Local Listings" definitely applies for the month of August. The hours vary widely. Check those calendars carefully!

Its even worse when families wanna make a trip during a weekday and they find out the park is only open weekends..

During Fright Fest if there are a ton of people in the park near closing time they will extend the parks hours
I think they made a mistake decreasing the hours on Saturday. They should decrease them on Friday instead. the park is not as crowded on Friday nights.
As long as they do not have the Superhero Parade with that stupid song at 4 during Fright Fest I will be happy.
I wonder if they will even have the Justice League out for FF, the do not go well with it. Bugs Bunny you can dress him up like Dracula whereas you cannot turn Flash into Frankinstien

Fright Fest Fridays are already short enough, they don't need to hack another hour off of them.

Well that sucks. Looks like tomorrow will be my last 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. trip of the season.

They changed the hours of August 9th (The next CAD) as well. 10-9 instead of 10-10. So does this mean CAD is 9-11 now instead of 10-12? If so that is going to upset a lot of people. Especially those that show up after 8:30.

Sounds like SFGAm is cutting costs...whatever happened to Shapiro investing more in the park experience then big rides? I'd figure that keeping the park open when it is supposted to be open is essential to keeping a park experience a good one.

Heh, might as well cut costs when there isn't many people showing up. Don't expect a good conference call from Six Flags on Aug. 3rd.

Shapiro has no idea what he has gotton himself into.

Well you can blame him, a terrible/late marketing campaign that barely got his original ideas across in the first place.

Upping prices on everything, and not telling anyone why never results well.

Basically what Shapiro did is took over Six Flags and then tried to quickly put things together to try to make a family park. One think about Theme Parks it requires lots of time and planning order to do things right. You can not just put things together real fast. Many things that they would start working on now would not become reality till 2 or 3 years latter. Any new Major attractions take at least 2 years of planning in order for it to be open on-time, marketed correctly and be a very good attraction. When you just quickly put things together it never comes out right. Take Disney. Disney spends several years of planning before a new attraction opens.

well no sense marketing the parks as family friendly when they are still run down teen/gangbanger/vandal magnets

Well... the stupid thing is that you usually drop most of the flats around 9 or 10 and go on rollercoasters. The marketing campaign is so stupid I heard on the radio the adveetessiment for Raging Bull and Ragin Cajun It should be more directed towards teens and adults because I always hear kids talkin about the waterpark only, so they got what they wanted.

This is so stupid, im all confused now. So is the park open from 10-9 tomorrow or 10-10? because on the coupon book it says 10-10 tomorrow
SF trips 09 = 15
SF trips 10= 11
SF trips 11 =7
