Is anyone surprised that since SGAM gouges all who park on property that the village isnt going to get in on the gouging act??
And what are the odds that SFGAM would reduce there parking fee by a dollar to cover this extra expense imposed on there guests??, that would be a family friendly move!!
SFGAM has NEVER undercharged for parking and should give the guests the option of paying $5 for a map or reduced parking fee's.

"Damijonaitis said more out-of-towners would pay a Great America parking surcharge than the food and beverage tax. "
Good to see how much certain village trustees value tourism from "out of towners". Anyone want to give me the means to contact this wonderful individual so me, an "out of towner" might be able to contact him and let him know what I think of arrogant politicians who regard tourists as an endless revenue supply to support their addiction to spending?
Perhaps Ray would be kind enough to explain his logic in this statement? I think his logic is a little backward, given that locals would have more of an ability to bring in coolers from home, or simply go home for food than someone from a greater distance away. Out of towner's could also use hotel shuttles avoiding the parking surcharge. So it would seem that out of towners stand to pay more of the food and beverage tax rather than a proposed parking tariff.
Maybe Ray looked at the numbers and realized he could of spent more if they would go with a parking tariff.
“They raised the parking fees $5,” Garner said of Great America. “Obviously, cost is not an issue with them.”
Yet another political genius from Gurnee's board. Cost may not be an issue to Great America, but it is an issue to the people that go there!
Last but not least, Do either one of these two greedy hacks care to tell us how they will collect the $1 tariff on season parking passes? If everyone with a parking pass has to stop and dig around for $1 evey time they come in instead of rolling on by, I could see more of a traffic headache in the morning.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
They wpuld have to collect a dollar a day from SP holders which would increase times in line, escpecially when i would pay same in change.
Now lets hope SFGAM comes out strongly against this like Cedar Point and other parks have when they have borne the brunt of a money grab, but sadly the SF pr flak had nothing useful to say other that to justify the parks own money grab.
Greed greed greed what are they going to use that money for their salary. Its bad enough that people are paying too much on property taxes in Gurnee now they have to take it from people who just want to enjoy their day in SFGA. Fire those village board members they get enough taxes from all the business that operates at Gurnee. The only option you have is ride Pace Bus 572, 565 the only buses that pass by GA. This is propably one of the reason why some people might not want to go GA this year the price hikes and the more taxes Gurnee Village keep making.
SFGAm parking is way to high. Look at cedar point, theres is well below our price.

If this tax were to be implemented, I highly doubt SP holders with parking passes would have to shell out a buck everytime they go to the park.
Case in point: Brookfield zoo has to add a $2.75 tax on the price for parking from people that pay the parking fee. However, if you are a zoo annual member (like a SP), you don't pay the tax or the parking fee.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
You guys complain about how high the parking is a GA but when you go to the Chicago and park the parking garages charge you $11 dollars for the first hour then it raises from $3-5 every hour. Most people expect hig parking prices. The park is located near two cities with high parking prices so people will complain but they will pay.
The reality is that the for most of us all we can do is complain because we dont live in Gurnee so we have to pay to park because there are no other off street parking options, so we are SCREWED!!!
The entity that should be our advocate is the park which should could out strongly againts special taxes like this as other park owners have done.
But sadly as of yet the family friendly park isnt doing anything to try to stop this and help the families that attend the park.
And if they dont complian, no one else will.

Actually the smart "out of towners" such as myself, park at the Rosemont CTA and ride the blue line to red line into downtown Chicago because we got tired of paying the damn $18 to park near House of Blues and Portillo's.

They mentioned every car at sixflags so that will probably include SP holders that would sux. It will take a revolution to stop it just like what VC said someone should march into that village board meeting and demand they dont start this tax or maybe sixflags should just lower their parking to $5.
