New Express Lines

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby sixflagger3211 on April 15th, 2006, 10:03 pm
Is the new express line for season pass holders in hurricane harbor a good idea or not? At least 60-70% of the people that go to Six flags have season passes now.

I think it's a great idea,I think it is not fair for season passholders to wait up to 30 minutes in line under blazing heat, last year this kid that was in front of me fainted because of the heat,I felt like I was going to faint too,but luckily my mom had cold water and we gave some to the kid while help came.It was too hot that day though.Anyway back on track, pass holders should have an advantage. That is just my opinion though.

I feel that having an express line for season pass holders is a terrible idea. Season pass holders usually attend the park multiple times during the year, while the average parkgoing family may attend only once or twice in a season. Why should the people who go only once a year have to wait for God knows how long, while the people who are always at the park just get to walk on in? In my opinion, it should be the other way around. Season pass holders have other opportunities when the park isn't as busy to go into the waterpark, while the GP doesn't. Tempers would flare, especially in the heat, and I can see some pissed off people in the future.

I'd be willing to bet money that the true percentage on any given day is much less than that, probably somewhere around 30%.

Lmao. Right. If it were 95% then they would only have 2 ticket booths open everyday.

The concept of an express lane, is so that people who normal go to the park once a year buy a season pass so they can get this perk of cutting in line for the water park. At the end Six Flags makes more money because people may buy a season pass and only use it once or people who normal only came once a year now will come two or three times a year which will increase their in park spending which means more money for Six Flags.

Im wondering that too, I haven't heard anything about a express line either.

I wouldn't mind if they added one though.

If I am not mistaken only 20% of the attendance makes up Season Pass holders.

yeah, SFGAm is rather low compared to SFAW where Season Pass was near 70% on the average day, and at SFKK it's between 50%-80% on any given day (these are markets where season passes are under $50 for the most part, and it just makes sense for everyone who visits the park to buy one)

As far as express entry into Hurricane Harbor, it sounds like a reasonable idea, given the fact that they allow early entry into the actual park as well. However, if it were in regards to fastlanes for each slide, i would be 110% behind mschulz5 on that one!

For all those who have posted what percentage of people have season passes at the various parks - can you cite your sources? ( and your cousin's brother's girlfriend who knows a guy that talked to a girl that used to date a dude that worked at the ring toss one summer does not count)

The amusement park industry tends to keep this data pretty close to the vest... and because 50% of the friends that go with you have passses, it does not follow that 50% of the general public does as well.

So - sources please!

Well, I usually always get the season pass, but I didn't this year. I don't plan on going to HH so the Express lanes don't affect me, but I still think it's a bad idea considering SF is catering to families, who prolly don't have a season pass. If your catering to families, don't make them wait in line more so pass holders can just go through.

^I would agree with you, except, with Hurricane Harbor, the families would take all of the lawn chairs. :)

well my source is the US sales rep for Zamperla who works closely with Six Flags and gets that sort of inside info.

though i am a season pass holder, i don't really think this is fair. we all decide to go to the park that day, we all should have to stay in the same line. If the person has a problem with it, get there super early. I did that many times last year, and i got in with no problem.

LAFF - well, its really not about what's "fair." Its about providing cost effective (ie CHEAP) perks that generate more up front sales (ie seasons passes).

From SF's perspective, revenue NOW beats the potential for revenue LATER. And season pass holders sometimes bring friends, and buy food and drinks and parking.

If it were about what's "fair" rather than revenue, they wouldnt sell Fast Lane or Fast Pass or Express or whatever they are calling it these days (and for the record, I am in favor of those programs. I dont use em at SFGAM, but will the one time I visit, for example, Universal/Islands of Adventure.)

I UNDERSTAND that. I'm just saying what i'm sure that many of the non season pass holders will be saying when they've been waiting in line for over a half hour to get into the park, and they see a bunch of people getting to get in before they do. I was just saying i don't agree with it...
