Last year, I remember hearing some discussion on the park replacing the sign along the I-94 tollway. The current sign is 30 years old, looks tired, and hasn't been lighted from the inside (as it was designed to be) for many years. The reader board has not been on since Fright Fest ended last fall. I remember being at Six Flags over Georgia in 1990 and they had a cool, electronic sign that alternated between the park logo and the name of the Georgia Cyclone, which was new that year. That type of sign technology has advanced so far since then. Hurricane Harbor also deserves more visibility on the highway sign. I have seen car washes and realtor offices that have better signs! Does anyone out there know if this will be replaced this season?
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!
Hopefully it is going to happen. It's kind of sad looking at that really old sign.If they do replace it though they should put it somewhere in the park as an icon of Great America.

It's a sign. Its job is to tell people that Six Flags Great America is located on that particular plot of land. Is it still doing its job correctly? Yes.
Why does Great America need a new sign?

Well, Sevart did say the sign would be replaced after last season as it's been a problem for a while now. But it seems either Corperate or the new GM doesnt see that sign as such an eyesore, though I think it will be replaced sometime in the next few years to something a bit more updated.

The plan filed with the planning comission only called for adding the hurricane harbor signage to the current sign. There has been no mention of a new sign that I have seen in the planning board.
Sevart did ask for it, but it will be too late to do anything now. The season is slowly creeping up and not enough time to put a whole new sign up. Also, with a new manager, this probably wont happen.

Are there any city or county restrictions on the signage? A couple of years ago, King's Island's 20yr old sign fell down a windstorm. The original sign was 80ft tall. But unfortunately due to new restrictions, the city of mason wouldn't let Kings Island build the new sign as tall. apparently there were discussions for quite some time before KI built the new sign, which is cool, its designed to look like the gate at paramount studios.
I don't really care whether they get a new sign or not, but at least give Hurricane Harbor a little more of a sign than a banner hanging on a Great America sign.
