It's hilarious. I don't even have a family, but I totally condone what Shapiro is doing. And he seems to know what he is doing. He has an open ear to what the public wants and knows what the park needs. He has put those two elements together and is, in my own opinion, going to be in the process of turning this park around and making it really great. If you really look at what he is offering, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I mean, we all love rollercoasters. He's not getting rid of any, so there's no problem there, right? And while there may not be any in the immediate future, he's pretty much said that when SF gets out of the hole there's the possability of some more being built. Also, with ideas like 4-D movies and year round haunted houses created by Wes Craven and X-Box themed areas? It doesn't really seem to me that bad. Actually, it sounds pretty darn interesting. I think people saw that he wanted to make some changes to bring in more families with kids and just assummed that he wasn't going to be catering to other focus groups as well. Shapiro is seeming to keep an even balance of family attractions and thrill attractions at SF and it seems he's going to do a good job of it. I am excited to see what changes these coming years are going to bring and am happy that SF is going to get out of the hole and onto bigger and better things. Also, I am very happy that SFGAm got such gleaming commendations from Shapiro. Honestly, take a real good look at what is being said by these people, instead of just assuming that SF is no longer catering to you. Because they are, by attempting to stay operational.
I can't find the Papa John's/Pizza Hut topic (if a mod can please move this).
This article states that talk is "underway" with Papa John's. Pizza Hut was not mentioned. It looks like Papa John's will join the official suppliers of soft drinks, catsup, and yogurt as the official supplier of pizza.
The new entertainment offerings at Six Flags seem bigger than I thought. Besides Looney Tunes, we'll see DC Comics' Super-Heroes from the Justice League, including Batman & Robin, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. There will also be character breakfasts and lunches, afternoon cake celebrations for the 45th anniversary, and storybook readings.
What got my attention most, though, was what Pete Shannon said regarding Six Flags New England, "This year will mark the largest expansion of entertainment in Six Flags New England's history." That is a big statement, and I'm pretty convinced that Shapiro is really making in-park entertainment a priority.
I'm just shocked that Superman is not one of the characters that these parks are having. How many people really know about Green Lantern? By the way I would rather have Supergirl instead of Superman.
That doesn't add to 25-30 characters an hour if all the Looney Tunes, and these five are added together. Who's the rest going to be? I don't think too many kids would like to see Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, or Wild E. Coyote. So, why include them???
Maybe, the other characters will be Flinstones, Jetsons, and Scooby-doo characters. Does anyone have any thoughts of what the other characters would be. Does Disney even have this many characters walking around all at ONE time except for the parade?
1. Bugs Bunny
2. Road Runner
3. Tweety
4. Sylvester
5. Fog-horn Leg Horn
6. Mexican Mouse
7. Taz
8. Daffy Duck

10. Porky Pig
11. Elmer Fudd
12. Wild E Coyote
13. Batman
14. Wonder Woman
15. Flash
16. Green Latern
17. Robin
Just as a note, Wile E. is considered one of the MAIN Looney Tunes characters. One thing that surprises me is how UN-MAIN Porkey Pig is, Did you know that Bugs Bunny was Introduced in a Porkey Pig cartoon?
Okay, Currently we have these looney tunes costumes.
Bugs Bunny
Lola Bunny
Daffy Duck
Pepe Le Pew
Foghorn Leghorn
Porky Pig

And assuming they're using characters from Cartoon Networks Justic League Show (rather then being based off the comics) We can probably expect these characters

Joker
Riddler

Plus one of cartoon network's most popular shows right now is Teen Titans, Headed up by Robin and Featuring
Robin
Starfire
Raven
Beast Boy
Cyborg
Plus lots of minor characters and Villain, Like Terra, Slade, Brother Blood, The group from the Hive (3), Bumble Bee and the group from Titans East, Raven's Father (I can't remember his name Tri-something) As well as the various hero's and villains appearing in the big around the world fight with the brotherhood of evil and such. (i don't actually know what's going on in the show, this is just research) This adds several characters.
So that adds up to:
27 Very Probably Characters
and bring it up to 93 for all the possible minor characters.
If they even use a few, I imagine that it can go a long way. And If they do to to Comics rather then TV, there are hundreds of Heros that pop in and out of the JLA (Justic League of America) headquarters, that they could use for more minor characters.

There you go...we'll have plenty.
Don't we have the animaniacs too? I remember seeing at least 2 of those characters about 2-3 years ago, unless they got rid of those costumes.
^True, I think it would be cool to organize the characters like fright fest does. They have themed characters for each themed section. I would have Superman characters in Orleans Place, Jesters in Mardi Gras, Batman Characters in Yankee Harbor, all the loony tunes in Yukon Territory, Uncle Sams in County Fair, Cowboys in Southwest Territory, and Loony Tunes in Hometown and Carousel Plaza just because of the shows they put on in those sections.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
"We're going to reposition Six Flags as a family brand and ramp up our family offerings," said Mark Shapiro, chief executive of Six Flags Inc. "We'll continue to build the thrill rides that attract the teens as well."
So the entire park won't become Bugs Bunny Land after all.

Uh guys.. If Shapiro is agreeing with David Roemer's point of view, Fright Fest is as good as screwed.
First of all, SFSTL has been catering to families since the addition of Boss. This has been their main focus. Even Xcalibur wasn't that much of a thrill addition. It works for that park though in all areas except one, Fright Fest. After two years of blasting SFSTL FF on the web (See any one of my TR's), some of the folks involved at SFSTL decided to get ahold of me. Long story short they informed me that it was Roemer that tied their hands on what they could do for FF because he wanted a Family environment.
From what I was told Roemer was the one who decided to cut from JPM down there, and he also put into place rules about the amount of blood and gore allowed. He also made new policy regarding monster interaction (see my TR regarding the clowns). It was rumored that he clashed with Corporate over these changes, which is what I think is mentioned in that article. At one point Fright Fest was to become Fall Fest.
Some of the changes were positive, such as the kids pirate trail (which only lasted one year). The vast majority of changes ended up hurting overall quality though.
Lets hope they work on creating FF attractions for all, not just changing existing attractions to cater to families.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
Well I think they should add 2 or 3 family rides and add 2 thrill rides because I think it's insane that we won't be having any more thrill or coasters for 3 or 4 years but I do like the idea of getting a 4-D movie we should get a 4-D ride like the Jimmy Neutron one at Universal studios. And I don't get why they are going to make Fright Fest less scarier because that's the point of going and when I see little kids pass by some of the scary characters most of them are nice to them and sorta wave at them.
As far as fright fest, i think it would be nice to cater to families, but honestly, Halloween is a holiday of fright. However, i doubt he will get rid of anything we already have at fright fest, I see him just adding an equal number of family things as scary things. Look at the attendance on some of those days, a guy who is out to make money won't pass up that good of an opportunity.
