Great America Report

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Castrol on December 29th, 2005, 6:07 pm
Long time lurker found this website through a friend of mine....

Well they have a report on SFGAM.

http://www.amusementsafety.org/six_flags/great_america.htm

I have read more through this site and cannot believe have of it. The SFGAM report isn't too bad compared to other parks but still.

What do you guys think of this report and this website? I bet they're hated, but who are they?

I'm not surprised at all. That's pretty much what you'd expect from most reports.

I agree with the Deja Vu one. If has been breaking down alot and they need to send someone to do a Deep Testing on it to see what is it's actual problem EDIT: Cause it may be a track problem a break malfunction or somethings chipping.

Head banging is somewhat true, I rarely experience headbanging in the cobra roll, and that's not even bad. Not many people avoid riding it either, they want to ride it like it's a new attraction.

It's kind of funny that the report picks on D Vu'. However, if you look at SFOG's, and SFMM, they don't mention anything about the ride. SFOG's D Vu' has been down for the longest time until this year compared to ours.

The comment they have on GL is that the price is too cheap, and that's why people don't want to go there. Does that really make sense??? Isn't it usually the other way around?

Pay no attention to that website, the guy who runs it asks for perks from parks, and when he doesnt get them, he puts up all that slander.

Parks know about it and he is the laughing stock of the whole industry.

He actually lists people feeling unsafe on rides. It's such a joke.

So the parks that have + ratings he has perks with?

It looked a little shady, but that gets me thinking, how could he slam one park and praise another one in the same chain? :? That does not make sense....so who is this guy anyways?

Pay no attention to anything this website (Amusement Safety) posts. they are considered a joke by the industry. Most of the info they provide is unreliable and unsubstantiated.

I know an incident where someone "baited" them with false info about a park that doesn't even exist and they promptly had it up on their site without verifying anything.

Just mention Jason Herrara (or however it's spelled) around any higher up's at any major parks, wait for the laughter to subside, and you will have your answer :)

While i have never felt unsafe about DVu due to its constant breakdowns as i believe the park wouldnt operate the ride if they felt it was unsafe, i think it is bad for the park to have what it suppossed to be one of its big attractions down as often as it is operating.
And i do find the parking lot to be somewhat of a free for all at closing time.

There has been extensive discussion about this site and Jason Herrera on other forums as well as at CoasterCon last summer. I've also had a couple private conversations about it with the PR folks at PKI and SFGAm.

Some of the parks are "getting their ducks in a row" at this point and by all accounts there will be some legal action at sometime in the future once they're ready to do so.

Although, from what I have heard, this site is a bogus site, the things he listed are probably the most common opinions of our park that I have heard everyday people tell me.

If these guy are such a joke, why sue them? It would only thrust them into the national spotlight. In fact, if ASO is right on one thing....any park who goes after them is at their mercy.

Does anyone here know anything else about these aso people?

This is funny.

I was just talking to an ace member at another site about tower of terror's safety. He posted a site to go to and what was it, amusment ride safety. The same site you got that Gam report from. He said it was his friends site. I was going to say something, but didnt.

Sounds like something an ACEer with his bundies all in a knot would do. I myself am an ACEer, but it amazes me how downright strage some ACEers are. i.e. when other ACEers freak out over stuff like downtimes and evacuations, they act like they just won the lottery

hehe, ask DejaVu The Ride about getting doused with water because his friends were jealous that he got evacuated off of DejaVu and pretty much the rest of his group went on the cycle before his.
