Historic day (sept. 30)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Trailblazer Tony on October 1st, 2005, 7:24 pm
This is my first time writing a trip report so let me know if something should be done differently next time. I arrived in Gurnee at 3:30 from UIC and had 90 minutes to kill before the park openned so me and my family played a game of glow golf at Gurnee Mills. Got in the park at 10 minutes before 5:00 and waited for them to open the gate to Orleans Place.

Condor:
This is my first time riding this ride and the reason for this being a historic day. I have now been on every attraction at Six Flags Great America!!! :D It was a walk-on and overall a pretty fun ride. It was not as dizzying as i thought it would be.

Superman, Ultimate Flight:
One train wait for back row, one of my best rides on this ride and a first for my dad. The guy in front of us lost his cell phone during the pretzel loop, though.

Rue Le Dodge (Twice):
It was just me and my family on the entire ride so the ride op let us go a second time, obviously one of the best times ever on this ride.

Whizzer:
One train wait for last row, not much to say, still one of my favorites at our park.

From here we met with the rest of the group and went out to the car for dinner. Then when we got back, and our group split up again. I stayed with my brother and his friend.

Demon:
Rode in the 6th row, farely smooth, but still not really my favorite. Only a one train wait.

Raging Bull:
Two train wait for back row, as usual, an amazing ride.

Ragin' Cajun:
This was the longest wait of the day. Ten minutes for a fun, but wild ride.

Vertical Velocity (Twice):
One train wait for last row both times, still my favorite ride in the park.

Batman, The Ride:
Two train wait for a middle row. I liked this ride a lot better before it got faster. This ride is getting more and more disorienting for me.

From here i left my brother and went with my youngest brother's friend. This kid hates the big coasters and has motion sickness. However, i think he was forced to come so me and him went off, bought ice cream, and rode some smaller rides that he liked.

Whizzer (Twice):
We had a fun time. This is the only roller coaster he seems to have fun on so we rode it twice. The first time was a walk-on and we were able to stay on for the second time.

Jester's Wild Ride:
By far his favorite, however a little boring for me. Another walk-on.

Rue Le Dodge:
Last ride of the night, 5 minute wait, great ride.

Overall, it was a pretty cool night. My youngest brother's friend had a good time, i got on everything i wanted, lines were walk ons, i finally got on Condor, and most of the rides were night rides. This year was not as fast paced as normal. Normally i will ride each coaster like five times before i move on, but still awesome. Most of the fright fest decorations were up and LAFF was actually showing in the Grand Music Hall, despite the fact that fright fest has not started and it was a private event. The fallen giant looks cool, too. The only ride not working (minus the water rides) was Deja Vu. Good Times!

Good trip report!! :D As for D Vu', it should be open. It seems to always be put on the backburner when staffing is bad. I like Whirlgig, and Big Easy Balloons, but when staff is bad, one of them shouldn't be working. I would probably go with taking down Whrilgig. Jester's Wild Ride isn't a too popular ride, and neither are Hometown Fun Machine, and Trailblazer. A faster version of the HFM is Fiddler's Fling anyway that should be open.

I constantly hear people say that they been to the park since it was first put in (Deja Vu), and have never ridden it. And most of the time, they say that it wasn't working the times they went before. It has been having a better year, and in my opinion it is one of SFGAm's more popular rides. So, why not run it more? Part of the problem for this year is that they would need to train more people for that ride.

^My parents went to LAFF, i did not know it was actually showing until we were driving home. They said it was really good and one of the guys we were with got called on stage to dance. I wish i would have known it was showing. As far as Deja Vu, i have ridden it many times so i did not mind. I was just happy V2 was open.
