Had to get up at 6am for the long drive to the park.
Time in park: 10:02-6:00 (Open until Close)
Of course I went to X first, where I got on the fourth train (3rd row)of the day. I didn't like it to much but decided to ride it again. After a 30 min wait, got 5th row and was a much better ride.
Headed over to Viper (aka Shockwave, almost) and wait 30 min. Only one train and I was disappointed b/c there was a brake after the first loop. Interesting that there were three seperate lines to begin with, which are for three different sections of the train.
Climbed up the mountain to Ninja (only 1 train), which was amazing. Short wait too.
I took the Orient Express down the mountain, good alternative to walking.
Took a quick detour to Revolution, which was my dad's favorite.
Crossed the park to Goliath, walk right on the ride, but couldn't re-ride, so we walked around back onto the ride. Great theming, why can't we get that stuff.
Wait 15 min for Colossus, but I noticed three different sets of trains, red trains, black trains, and white trains (which had headrests but no Six Flags logo like the other ones, could someone explain this)
Wait 25 min for Scream: Ride Out Loud, with only one train. Pretty rough. But!! I noticed off to the side that there were two trains in the boneyard, one Blue with a light blue stripe and one yellow with the same blue stripe, could it be Shockwave's trains? Or were they the trains of Flashback.
Walk to the back of the park to ride Batman. Great ride, smooth fast and better than SFGAM's Batman.
Walk over to Riddler's Revenge for the longest wait of the day, but I had to ride it b/c my first time at SFMM my sister got a nosebleed that lasted an hour just as we got in line(caused by Superman).
Hopped on Freefall but wasn't allowed to ride until another person came on (my dad won't go on drop rides)
Walk right on old Rush which was a nice ride, kinda fun darting through the trees.
Back to the favorites to end the day. Ninja, the Orient Express, and Revolution. We got cut short as it was already six o'clock.
Thoughts.
-My best amusement park day ever, even with most rides running only one train.
-This day I started sitting further back in the trains, but I'm unsure where to sit on roller coasters, is back better?
-My TR of Knott's will come in a few days, too tired of typing right now.
Those werent Flashback's trains. The trains are red with a white stripe thats similar to a lightning bolt.
What you described sounds like ShockWaves trains. SFMM wouldnt use them in the present colors since they wouldnt match Vipers green trains. So if they are the trains then maybe they will paint them at the park if they can or send them somewhere close by ti be painted.
Shockwaves trains will probably just be used for parts. Viper already has 4 trains.(There is always one in storage.)
About the Colossus trains. As you know, there are 2 tracks. The red trains one on one side and the black ones run on the other. I believe that the white ones that you still see, are the ones that they run backwards during Fright Fest.(They are the trains from Psyclone).
I might as well post this here. If anyone plans to go to SFMM don't go planning to ride Flashback. It will not be open. The only reason that it is still standing is for the park to claim that they still have 16 coasters.
And from what I have heard, this shouldn't be a let down to any of you.
Umm....I don't think there are many people on this forum who didn't already know that. When I went in 2003 Flashback had been closed for about a half a year...I think it operated the winter before I was there for a brief time....and as far as I know it hasn't opened since then.
It is closed because of the waterpark because the lifeguards can't hear when it's running.....but oddly enough they can hear over S:TE which has to be one of the loudest coasters in the world.
No. It probably will never run again. I hear that it is cheaper to just leave it standing than tear it down, so they are just leaving it there. The main power supply is reported to be taken away from the ride and it is just a piece of garbage sitting there. The waterpark is closed BTW, so that is obviously no longer an excuse as to why it doesn't operate.
I wasn't trying to say the waterpark was why it's closed....I know it's a bogus excuse. As I said S:TE is lounder then any noise I assume Flashback can make...id be interested to hear what there excuse is now that the waterpark is closed though. They would probably still say the waterpark excuse, because when I talked to guest relations when I was there they were telling me that the sky tower and monorail were open and that flashback was the only thing not operating. Which was clearly not correct.
I rode Flashback a few times in April 2002. When I stood in front of the entrance and watched the ride it didnt make any more noise than the average coaster. Same thing for when I was on it. So it definetly is a cheap excuse. I might even have video of it running so maybe I could show it to you guys.
I have a question about Sky Tower. It's been closed everytime I've been to SFMM, how do you get to the top? Do you climb the stairs or take an elevator like in RCT2?
