August 27th, 2005. (My birthday!)
We got to the park too late on Friday to use our free Starlight tickets, so we waited for out early entrance Saturday.
First ride of the day..Top Thrill Dragster.
This being my first time on it, and not knowing if I would have time for the ERT, I just went back row. Even in the back I found this ride to be amazing, and I don't know why people bash it so much. This is such an amazing ride and I WISH SFGAm could have a rocket coaster.
After that we decided to run over to Millennium Force for the rest of the ERT.
Since we didn't wait for Dragster in the front, I just went decided to wait it out on this. I personally do not find this to be the best steel coaster I have ever been on, even in the front. Speed from lift hills doesn’t do much, but the Drop, and the overbanks were worth the wait. Not the best, but still pretty darn good.
Mantis was a BIG disappointment, it was just, if not more rough than iron Wolf, and I don't think that B&M trains would make IW any better.
Iron Dragon was a fun little invert, that a lot of little kids enjoy. It really showed.
Now being that the map is really cartoony, I didn't know Magnum was as close as it was. I ended up by Cedar Creek Mine Ride for the credit.
I went on this thinking it would be the worst coaster of the day, turns out it wasn’t! I actually found this to be a very good comparison to Whizzer. A lot of kids came off smiling and that’s all that mattered.
Unfortunately, my next three rides weren't so good.
When we drove in the day before, Mean Streak looked like an Airtime machine....if only. This thing left me in pain from my head, to my thighs. Things should not be this rough, and lap bars aren't meant to flop like that.
Gemini anybody? Kyle, if this is your ride you work, no offense but it just sucked. More brain to leg damage, my next snapped horribly out of the final helix. I hoped Magnum would be better.
Magnum could be a lot better, if they had better restraints, and round the smaller hills, because those were thigh busters.
I went over to Dragster for my first ever front row ride...I found this just incredible. The wind, the forces, and the cooling sprinklers right before the ascent, I just loved it. Oh just to top it off. This was right after the rain, so my first front row ride, was my first ever rollback. Most park-goers seem used to this type of thing by now, and I was quite surprised.
I walked over to maXair only to be greeted by full queue and out...which only took 25 minutes. I look at Revy now and I just WISH this could be in its place, not much more than that really.
Wicked Twister was the one thing I was surprised at. It was a walk-on for the back row. I still can't decide weather I love the hold better, or the spiral. I need to get back on V2.
Disaster Transport..this has such a corny queue. But the ride I really enjoyed, I wish it was the free bob's instead of tracked, but I couldn't see it anyways.
Raptor. I was a bit curious about this being better than BTR, the lift is loud, it hurt hurt hurt. Just not a good invert, Nemesis still holds my top spot.
Blue Streak I was really skeptical about, considering Mean Streak was pure pain. This was loaded with air, and the roughness reminded me of AE. Not bad at all.
I took another front row Dragster ride and called it a night.
August 28th, 2005
I only planned to stay in the park for a few hours today, and I surprisingly got A LOT done!
Second train on Dragster in the front. Flew over the Top Hat! The air was amazing and the way back down was too.
I played single rider and snuck in five Millennium Force rides. They have a really fast and speedy crew. They were pretty good. Not worth a full queue.
Corkscrew, it's really close with Demon, but the seatbelts connected to the OTSR's, REALLY slowed down the crew.
By this time, lines were getting a tad longer, so I aimed at some flats.
maXair I rode, three times before the line began to use the switchbacks. I really love this ride.
Now was for the highlight of my day, Demon Drop. Before this, I had never set eyes on a ride like this before in person. I was slightly having second thoughts about but rode it anyways. Verdict: This thing is absolutely amazing! Minus the noises, they run it great, and I still have no idea how Intamin even THOUGHT of this ride.
I was told that Chaos at Cedar Point, is the last standing? True or False, this ride was pretty awesome, and it was very very fun.
I played single rider for Wicked Twisters line, wound up next to an older enthusiast. Front row, I think I liked back better.
I wanted to end my trip with a front row ride on Dragster's Red Train, and somehow it worked out, with the same guy I rode Wicked Twister with! He has about 12 black stickers, a few Push stickers from maXair, and we BOTH wanted the Intamin Giga Coaster plates off of Mille...oh, and he was a SFGAm local.
It was a GREAT first time at Cedar Point and a few quick notes...
-I don't think I can rate this park higher than SFGAm. This park really only caters about 4-5 coasters that would REALLY appeal to enthusiasts, in my opinion at least, but this really wins a top spot for a Family Park.
- The crews are really really good, especially with the rides with T-bar's. the checked numerous people before entering the queues, speeding up the ride cycle.
- They need to have the host by Mille tell people about loose articles. About 6 people had to leave the line.
- This is a very nicely run park, and I definitely know what to do, and what not to do for next years visit.
Thanks for reading!
