July 3rd: Mt. Olympus

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Mr. SFGAm on July 7th, 2005, 7:22 pm
On a spur of the moment decision at around 4pm on Sunday night, my friend and I decided to make the hour and 15 minute drive south from Stevens Point to the dells to get some coaster riding in. This was my first time at Mt. Olympus, and I was very impressed with some of the theming there!

I don't have too much time, so I'll run down the coasters:

Pegasus 5/10, 5 minute wait.

For the size of this ride, I thought it was pretty fun. This was the first ride we rode, and the wait was very short.

Cyclops 8/10, 5 minute wait.

I really liked this ride! I love the single position lapbars, the air on some parts of the ride is extreme!! We took a few rides on this then we headed over to...

Zeus 7/10, Walk on.

Everyone tells me how this ride is incredible, but I just didn't see it. It was quite fast, with some decent air, but it also had a few rough spots. I guess for me it just wasn't what I expected. We took two rides total on this one.

Hades 10/10, 25 & 50 minute wait.

I still don't know quite what to say... I never thought I'd ever see the day where a roller coaster would come so close to clipping off The Beast as my #1 coaster , but Hades comes just shy of that. This ride walks all over Viper, and blows almost every other coaster away!!! From the first drop on, it was non-stop speed. I LOVED the pre-lift section, and the tunnels rendered me speechless!! Hades comes in as my second favorite coaster in existence, just short of Beast, and right ahead of Raging Bull. This ride, like The Beast, is just incredible at night!!

Well, I definately have to get back to the Dells this summer and get some more rides in on Hades!! Over all, I really enjoyed Mt. Olympus, I'd just like to see them add a couple more spinning rides!!

Thanks for reading! :)
Finally Coaster Season!!

Wow, the fact that Hades was a 50 minute wait may have just detered me from going to the Dells this summer  . I always thought the coasters at the Dells were known to have short waits....

Believe me, it's worth it. Hades is one hell of a machine. Good Job Gravity Group!

Well, the fact that it was night time, and a holiday weekend may have had something to do with it... as well as Hades being a new ride. All of the other rides varied from walk-on to 10 minute waits

Yeah you've got to take into affect that it was July 4th weekend which means a crapload of people are taking a vacation to the Dells. I bet if you went next week on a weekday you'd have walk ons.

I wish the parks at the Dells had starlight tickets or something. I mean just to get on Avalanche and the coasters at Mt. Olmypus costs you $52 of total admissions.

Does anyone know of anywhere to go to get discount tickets for either park?

It's great to here good reviews even with the 50 min wait as I just planned my trip there July 17 today.

Did you go on any go-karts?
I'd rather be riding the Voyage

My family, some family friends, and possibly my friend are going to Mt. Olympus in two weekends and we got a group rate of 23 dollars instead of the 32.
