goin to cedar point?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby RBull4life on August 1st, 2008, 9:44 am
Well, thank you for calling the Cedar Point hotline. My name is Steve, and will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Considering that you are staying on the park grounds.

You will be given a ticket that will allow you to enter the park early. You must show this ticket for you to gain early access. The rides vary as to what will be open, and what will not be. Usually Raptor, MF, Maverick (snicker), and Magnum. Once again, these vary day to day. Remember, you will enter at the back of the park, so with the exception of Maverick, the other coasters are a walk to get to, so unless you run, you may only have time for one coaster, possibly two, before the general public enters. You will also receive several other coupons good for four free rounds of mini golf, and discounts on food, our excellent waterpark, go-carts, and several other pay as you go attractions. You will also get two starlight tickets which will allow you to enter the park after 5:00 pm, along with two general admission tickets.

You may leave, and re-enter the park as many times as you like to go back to the hotel, as long as you have your hand stamped.

You will have to pay the parking fee when you first enter the parking lot. This will be reimbursed when you sign in at the hotel, so hold on to your parking stub. There will be signs to guide you along the way to hotel Breakers, but you will be going left once you enter. You will drive past Blue Streak, MF, and Maverick. When you get to Breakers, pull up the front door. Our doormen will come out to greet you, and ask if you would like to have your luggage carried up to your room. They will know which room you will be in after you checked in. Please be kind and tip our fine doormen, for they work just as hard as anyone else on our staff.

Depending on crowds, it is hard to say how long the waits will be for any ride. As your Cedar Point representative, I would suggest that once you enter the station of any ride, you check to see how long the line is for the front car. This will help you determine if you would have enough time to wait. If I may be so bold, the only coaster I would wait for front row is Top Thrill Dragster. It may be a considerable wait time, but it is well worth the time waiting.

Thank you for calling the Cedar Point hotline. I hope you enjoy your stay at America's Roller Coast.

Unlike many people i'm only going for 1 day and I cannot gurantee i'm staying onsite for early entry. I have no idea what to do to hit up as many rides as possible in that day. I'm going either on the 17th or 18th, so i'm guessing crowds will be moderate. Can someone please give me a plan of action?

I didn't start this thread, so why am I getting credit for creating it?

If i can throw a little more advise to anyone going and staying on site

Regarding early entry: Go to the Magnum entrance in the back right of the park. From there you just have to make a quick left and RUN to Maverick. It will be the longest line of the early entries. If you get there fairly quick you will get a walk on and have time to run over to Millennium Force and the line will be at the main ramp a 10 minute wait. From there, a line will be waiting to enter Top Thrill Dragster, both days i did this the wait for Dragster was 5-10 minutes. In a matter of an hour you can get all three of the monsters out of the way! I found this to be great

BTW, the coasters included for early open are : Millennium Force, Maverick, Raptor, Iron Dragon...this has stayed consistent.

If you do not have a package and its a busy day...the $25 starlight ticket really gets my moneys worth since you get to stay from 5-10...and that doesnt mean closing at 10...thats right.

a major plus about CP is that you are allowed to enter lines until 10:08pm on a night where they close at 10. I have seen the park open until 12 in my hotel because Dragsters line will be still 2 hours long at closing.

i love this park!

Like i said without a doubt the night will good for you since its cooler and you can get into lines at closing. The closing time only means nobody else can enter at 10. So dont leave the park thinking you have no time to get a last ride, because you get to choose whatever you want until 10:08pm on a 10pm close.

at night i remind you DO NOT FOR ANY REASON sit in the front row of certain rides. Maverick, Millennium Force and Dragster at night from the front get swarmed by the bugs from the lake. If you dont believe me, take a look at the front restraints or front of the car. I myself dont mind it, but girls generally freak out. Just be prepared for bugs at night regardless.

As for a plan of attack, the experts tell me to start in the back of the park since everyone will start from the front. A ride on Maverick, MF, Dragster or Magnum in the morning is a good choice. The lines will be the longest later in the day and if its hot you dont want to be in a 2hr line.

ONE plus to CP lines is they have fans with water being sprayed for a nice mist. A nice addition that we dont get at SFGAm. Also the music in the lines is generally very good, sometimes they have a guy picking music, but there will not be repeating music like we get here in Gurnee.

Any other questions, ask here!

^It depends where you enter the park. If you park in the water park parking lot, or if you stay at a CP resort on the point, then use the Challenge Park/Soak City enterance. After going under Magnum, you can go to the right and go by Gemini and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. In other words, if you don't know where you're going, head towards Mean Streak, as you can see it much easier than Maverick. If you can't go in the Soak City enterance, then go to the employee/side enterance, as this is also closer than the main enterance. Then you just have to follow the Frontier Trail.
