The ultimate rollercoaster, Thirteen, launches on 20th March 2010.

Thirteen will be based on the discovery of an unearthed ancient burial site in an area of unexplored woodland known as the Dark Forest.

Built on the site of the old Corkscrew rollercoaster, visitors will be invited to take a petrifying ride on Thirteen, venturing into the seemingly living and breathing Dark Forest. There they will face an unknown horror that has been unleashed from the ancient crypt.

The ride has been developed with the world's leading coaster and thrill consultants who have collaborated to combine the ultimate elements of physical and psychological fear - to create what experts are dubbing a 'psychoaster'.

The new ride is billed to be the scariest in the UK and will use new technology which will be the first of its kind in the world.

Can't wait to see what it is that makes this ride so thrilling. From the construction pics it doesnt look all that excieting.

They even put restrictions on this ride (Age requirement, Must sign a waiver). The "new technology" is the "Track Dropping" element (exactly what it sounds like), which is why it'll be "the scariest roller coaster in the UK"

To be honest, the scariest part of this whole thing...it's an Intamin

This technology will potentially make the ride so frightening that only visitors between the ages of 16-55 will be allowed on the ride due to concerns about emotional maturity and physical health.

I wouldnt think too much of it, its just a PR stunt, Tussad/Merlin always has done things like this. I remember when AT was advertising Oblivion like it was going to be the most intense coaster ever (all it does is drop then turn into the brakes).
This vid gives you a pretty good idea of how they built up Oblivion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ojniYSI1w&feature=PlayList&p=ABF5A6EC051B228F&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=6

if it's the same dropping track as Maurer Soehne (Winjas), it shouldn't be much of a problem. Of course you never know what kind of needlessly complex device Intamin will come up with.

And to much shock and dissapointment, Thirteen's opening has been delayed.
The much anticipated preview weekend which was set for a week today on 12th march has had to be forced to cancel the event due to technical difficulties. TH13TEEN is an incredibly sophisticated ride and we have experienced some minor technical difficulties during testing.
