It looks like its going to be announced sometime this week. January 1st, the Blackhawks will take on the Detoilet Redwings at the 2nd annual winter classic at Wrigley Field. This is going to be great. Last years game between Pittsburg, and Buffalo was very fun to watch. This is going to be a great time to be a Blackhawks fan. Pat Foley back in the booth. Games on WGN. All games on TV. An outdoor game against the Stanley Cup champions. Toews, Kane. Damn, is it October yet?
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
Wow, I'm surprised that the above post is the most recent post about the Blackhawks. They've won 8 straight games now, tying a franchise record from '71 and '81. They are sitting 4th in the western conference, and are 3rd in terms of points in the west. They play the WIld on the 28th, and then play 2 games against Detroit, one on the 30th and then the Winter Classic. If they can win the games against Detroit, they'll be within a point of Detroit, the Central Division lead, and 2nd in the Western Conference. With the way the team has been playing, it looks like they can definitely do it.
^ Don't be surprised about the lack of Blackhawk talk. The Bears , and the Bulls , will always get discussed before the Hawks during the winter months, and I don't mean just on these boards, I mean in the local media. Bears pre-game coverage usually starts Monday morning, and continues until game time. The Bulls, well, not much to say.
Glad to see another Hawks fan on here. Its great to see them have over 22,000 at the UC against the Flyers, and with the young players this team has, they are going to be a force to be recken with not only this year, but years down the road.
DETROIT SUCKS!!!

Ive been watching the Hawks my whole life (or at least the games that were on TV) and never thought id see a team with this much talent and am glad to see them finally playing up to their potential. Great sight to see after years and years of mediocrity. Toews is AMAZING, some of the stuff he does on the ice makes my jaw drop. The UC atmosphere in the UC is like it was back when I went to the games in the Chelios/Roenick days (and this team might be better than those early 90s Hawks teams). I was really pissed off at the firing of Savvy when it was announced, but ive been proven wrong. ...and the "moment of silence" for Wirtz memorial was one of the funniest things ive ever seen with people booing and trying to make as much noise as possible .
Lets give credit where credits due. Dale Tallon has done a fantastic job putting this team together and Quennville looks like the right guy, plus Scottie Bowman is in the front office now . Go Hawks.
Let's just put it this way, I won't touch the remote to put on a Bulls game *snore*. Football is fun to watch, but you have Hawks and Bears play at the same time, I'll have the Hawks game on. It's too bad I have to listen to 720 here in Orlando with static in the background, but I still get to listen while driving. I haven't missed a game either on TV, radio or following on my phone ever since Wirtz died. But I'm really excited for this game, too bad I'm not in the city or I'd totally be going to that game as I had the opportunity to get tickets for face value but declined it.
I'm already excited for the game I'm going to on April 22 against Detriot, last game of the season, it will be crazy. At least I can go to a game on December 4 where it will also be crazy, great to see a winning team in Chicago besides baseball that will be around for a while.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
That game last night was rough. They had been playing so well that it was hard to believe they were shutout. Hopefully the Winter Classic tomorrow will be better. Obviously I'm pulling for the Hawks, but if they lose, it better be a close game.
This is typically what happens when a great young team plays a great veteran team. The Red Wings are still the class of the NHL and until someone dethrones them in the playoffs thats the way it will stay. They will prolly finish 1 in the division with Hawks 2 with both making the playoffs, and thats where I worry.
This was at least a better game to watch than the one from the 30th. It was still painful though as the Hawks were leading by 2 after the first and then to have the Wings take the lead in the 2nd and then finally the win. Huet didn't seem like he was on today like he was during the win streak.
