Theres been news storys on Fox 6 about myspace but not about how schools were trying to look at them. I would tell you what school is looking at them but they threatened to sew me for Slander. Rolling Eyes
Lmfao, I wasn't aware that schools could sue kids now for something that doesn't involve schools at all.
^ Cause schools are anti myspace and if you have ANY swears they will suspend you.
Again, I call BS. Do you swear in school? I bet 90% of the kids that post here do, and the worst that can happen is that if you swear at a teacher very badly you can probably get suspended.
If these threats are true thats all they are, threats. Schools can't just suspend people for sh!ts n giggles like you guys are talking about.

The problem with today's society is that parents are more and more depending on the public school system to shelter and discipline their child. No, schools should not be able to discipline students that put inappropriate content online in their own free time. However, the law should come into play here. Threatening to hurt other people should get anybody arrested, even if its among teenagers and all fun and games.

No one has to log into your account to view your profile. Unless it is set to private (in which case they have to be your friend), your profile is completely public, and any pedophile can view it.
Just like everybody connected to the internet, it is completely legitimate for schools to look into your profile, just like your boss, parents, and next door neighbor. Should they be able to do anything about what they find on it? Not if you're not in any violation of school rules or laws (in which case the law enforcement agency would be tipped and deal with the situation).
Lol, someone at my school took a picture of the assistant principal, (shes a complain) and put her face on Hitlers body, it pwnd, and put it on xanga and myspace, not, the schools going through the school list, when you put what school you go to, and everyone in that group will get a letter sent home about it. Its dumb.
msoeagle wrote:^ My profile is set to private but they shouldnt suspend people for swearing on a website out of school.
They can't suspend you for swearing. It is after school and it is a perfectly legal thing to do as long as it isn't threatening or hateful. If they try and suspend you for it, fight it. They won't be able to get away with that.

^ My friends have been suspended. Luckily I got out of that school and left. The reason about the swearing is why I want a T.V. investigation to be done. *** is the name of the school.

Unfortunately, there is no one to fight to. The deans are the ones who assigned the punishment, the board of education is of course going to be biased towards them. Unless you can find a lawyer to write a letter to the school for free, it's just not worth it. Depending on the school or deans, many times they like to keep parents out and will just give up if a parent does call in to complain.
^ This is EXACTLY why I want a tv investigation to be done. Maybe then the schools will see whats going on and how its wrong. For example, I had a group for people that went to that school, some members abused the forum and I got the blame for it. I could probably guarantee you if I was still there I would have had an in school suspension even though I didnt post anything bad.
^Again, they would not put that on the news. They aren't going to side with a bunch of kids against schools when there are parents watching their show! I doubt many schools are doing what your school supposidly is doing and right now a story about sexual pedofiles being on myspace (I'm sure they are) is probably a lot more attractive than a story about some kid getting suspended for swearing in it.

Honestly, I would just wait until it happens to you individually. I had an assistant prinicipal call me out on something i didn't do and i can tell you first hand that you can get far by being respectful. When she asked me questions, i answered them honestly and nicely, when she accused me, i denied it and when she pushed it, i respectfully asked her to call the principal in and my parents. The issue was solved, i shock their hands and went on with my life. However, I wouldn't make a big deal about anything they haven't done to you. It only makes matters worse.

That may work in your school or past school, but on the southside of chicago things dont work that way. Here, if anything goes wrong, the teachers and cops will try and pin it on anyone, ask any southsider. The cops and teachers blame anyone as long as they save their own as*, I havent heard of any anti-myspace movements though, but I bet I will soon.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.
Just kidding. Yes, it does help to be respectful. At the same time, though, I wish I could think of my school as a business that I pay rather than a company that I work for. I'm sure not going to be respectful to a customer service agent who accuses me of something I didn't do, whereas I'm going to respect my boss. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way, and administration definately uses that to their advantage.
No one ever forced you to put down the information you did.
Did the site ever MAKE you..
-Put your School?
-Your town/city?
-Your Screename?
-Pictures of yourself?
And frankly, those are the things that who's ever representing MySpace in all of this can use.

I ment to say "Shook their hands".
And sfgam05, I do live on the southside, just probably not as close to Chicago as you do.
