A kid at my school got hit by a car today! :shock:

There was about half a dozen squad cars on the scene and an ambulance. I don't know who it was though.

It must have been after school. I was wondering why it was all backed up and then I saw the ambulance...this is so sad...I was rear ended in this same area because the a****** behind me was speeding...God D*** It! Why do people have to speed 50 mph in a 30 mph zone?! Look what happens...my prayers go out to the family and friends to both the driver and the pedestrian involved in the accident.

The kid was actually hit by a bus! He survived but from what I heard his leg got screwed up. He was trying to cross Lake St. (in Grayslake) on his bike when he darted out in front of the bus where he got hit. At least it's better to have a messed up leg than be killed. He got really lucky.

A few months ago my friend got hit by a van, last year a teen got hit by a car the day school got out! And my brother was hit a few years ago on his bike! Luckily they all survuved. WTF is with cars and kids today?!

I almost got hit by a speeding car last night. Me and my friend were in a neighborhood and they must have been going at like 50-60 MPH. That car was down the end of the street in like 5 seconds. Hate people like that, absolutely hate them.

We were at the light at Washington & Rt. 45 when a lady waved out a car from the Marathon gas station. A Jeep came speeding toward the light when the driver at the gas station pulled out and almost caused an accident! If there was an accident, it would've most likely been fatal. Whoever drove the Jeep is one REALLY good driver to avoid it! They all were driving pretty slow after the incident. Scary...

Back to the grayslake accident, part of the problem is that our school busses don't follow right of way, they think they have the right of way and will honk their horn as they approach a stop sign then completely blow it as if they're in a funeral procession. Not sure if this had anything to do with the accident but it is something that takes drivers (including me) by suprise.

I want to get a job so I can help my parents pay the bills.

My mom wants me to keep all the money I earn for myself. She won't accept any money I give her because 'its not my responsibilty to pay the bills'. How am I supposed to convince her... My dad is the same way too. I really want to help them but they want me to just save the money for myself. Well what the heck, they give me $14 every Saturday AND keep a savings account for me, which I right now have probably over $1000. Seriously, I could help them too..

Do they need the help? A lot of parents feel they have a responsibility to pay the bills and nuture their kids, it's just how a lot of parents feel. I guess you should be grateful for it and it's nice to offer to do something like help pay for the bills.

My dad doesn't have a job, has been unemployed since October of last year, and my mom doesn't get a whole lot of money either. We're having a hard time paying the bills.
