It's a good strategy however, and I never go to the water park so for me idrc

The parking lot gets so crowded anyway, Where are they gonna put some people if they use more? Parking Garage?

This could be a tip off that Six Flags is buying another water park in the area, such as Raging Waves in Yorkville. Then they can sell combo passes to Raging Waves + Great America or Hurricane Harbor + Great America. This would give Six Flags the ability to increase prices and boost ticket sales to Great America.

From the Q2 2017 Earnings Call Transcript:
Our strategy to acquire water parks nearby our existing theme park assets is very exciting. In our first test market of Mexico City, we've seen season pass sales increase by almost 40% this year, most of which we estimate is due to the new water park being bundled into the season pass offering. Since we announced our water park acquisition strategy, we have received multiple inbound inquiries from water park operators around the U.S., so the opportunity is not only compelling, but it's large scale.

Gurnee is not a "small town", it's a suburb between a giant city and another good sized city. It's no different than Great Adventure.

You're right. That was a bit silly to say. Gurnee is small in comparison to Chicago obv but - This park pulls in so many damn people from the tri-state area, it's insane. I'm always talkin about how we need higher capacity attractions here due to the amount of people that are pulled into this park.

Maybe after all these years it will finally be that separate gate. Here's the concept photo where you can see what the original plans were. I looked back at season pass prices that year when they announced it and I can't believe how high they were. $82.99 for reg park $82.99 for water park and $139.99 for a combo pass.

Omg I remember this! There was a huge sign on the side of Ragin cajun before the bridge on the left that had this whole map sayin there was a massive new water park coming in 2005! I love "old school" concept art. But yeah you can see the entrance is pretty much right where they gate opening is now right?

A custom Thunder Rapids would be really cool. I have not been to HH since 2008 but I would go for a water coaster once or twice a year.

I think I'd rather see a high capacity s&s coaster added to our park since the water park is never open that long every season.

I think a water coaster would be the wisest decision. As I've said, the waterpark deserves just as much as the dry park. Iit doesn't matter if you go a lot or I go a lot. The park is very popular & the crowds could use more attractions to disperse them in more areas.

If that's true I'd love if they themed it to the southwest and named it something like tumbleweed.

Hell yeah! Tumbleweed, El Diablo, Lasoo (NOT Wonder woman's golden lasoo... just lasoo lol) Something South West themed would be great! I hope this rumor comes true!

I'm gonna be real honest, I was really worried at what that illustration was. Lol on mobile, it's really zoomed in so I was like ummm

Anyways. I could do without the super loop, yes. But if it's a bonus to us receiving a water park expansion, I can't complain that both parks are getting something. Plus, it's another attraction for people to enjoy. What's wrong with that? What I don't want to see is it being marketed as our next major coaster if it was the only addition we're getting.

Plus we've already got Nathan's Hot Dogs confirmed for 2018 so anything else is icing on the cake, really.

That image is so cool! I love the idea of a more decorated entrance to Hurricane Harbor. Do you have any other concept art?

No doubt about it, adding Hurricane Harbor to Great America was one of the best moves ever made, in my opinion it should have been done much sooner than 2005! I would love to see them expand Hurricane Harbor to completely fill in this section of parking lot, however, I don't know if Six Flags would spend the money building a parking garage in the over flow lot, which would almost certainly be needed if this type of expansion happened.

2018? How about finish building Goliath?!

I mean... it comes in at 65 feet in the air, probably 30mph or more, and descends into mag brakes. So much energy left!

(don't use the space issue; space is NOT an issue and never was).

I know I know... that is too far out of the SF box. I think X-Flight was our last "full/full-length" coaster.

I still like the idea of SAVING the cash from 2018 and getting something amazing in 2019!! And, a side benefit is that it will force people (like myself) to ride the Joker LOL!
