Excessive. They should just have a media day and open the ride. They're having way too many pre-opening events. Even the season pass thing is a bad idea. The Xtreme Pass thing is fine, but the regular Season Pass ride time the 12th and 13th is going to make alot of non-Pass holders very angry, and I feel very sorry for any employee that gets stuck at X-Flight's entrance checking for passes.

Nothing except of course for a daily exit pass, free use of the $5 upcharge attractions, 2 extra bring a friend free tickets which are good any day of the year, An hour of ERT on Xflight then later in the year an hour of ERT on Raging Bull, free inner tube rental in the waterpark, and lesser perks of a free sport bottle, 3 free meals and a dedicated "xpress" entrance to both the dry and water park.

I don't know how you could you pay $130-$140 for just saying that you were on X-Flight first? If the rest is worth nothing (to you), I just can't believe that. It's not $200 because your season pass is included in that pass also.. I understand being mad, but do you really think that X-Flight is worth that much money just to say that you got on the first ride of X-Flight? How much do you value that X-Flight ERT? Do you value it to be $20, $30, $50, $100, $130?

I think it's smart that they have at least 2 season pass preview days. Imagine if they had just one, the line would be huge, think of how many season passholders SFGAm has and would go to this event. Coasters After Dark has always been very busy and that's with 3 a year and people going for the whole park with no new coaster.
Is everybody in? The ceremony is about to begin.

I agree this is a crock, but only because I am not in HS anymore. They are targeting their main demographic here. If I were in HS still, I would be all over this trying to win this event. I still believe this should be AFTER the media event, maybe on the 11th.

Wow this is going to make quite a few people angry. The park should just skip all of these special events and open the ride to everyone on the 12th. It is nice that they are letting pass holders ride on the 12th and 13th but it has just seemed to become a problem now.
I am a cheerful pessimist.

If anything it makes it easy to see that English is being taught very poorly for this generation. Especially if this "texting" version of English keeps going.

New members, listen up

Rules about grammar and spelling have loosened over the years, but you've got to attempt to make a coherent sentence when you post here. If you can't spell, download Chrome or Firefox where it's literally included on everything you type.

Basically, if we wanted to text each other all the time about how its not fair that X Flight is opening to everyone but us, we would. But we're posting on the internet, where standards have to creep just a bit higher.

You can do it, I know you can. Thanks.

Does anyone happen to attend any of the participating high schools?

The contest says that you have to post the downloaded image to your Wall and then tag SF. But the "rules" at the bottom says the winner is determined by number of downloads from box.net.

*middle schoolers.
The most important lesson I had in middle school was sentence diagramming. Our vocab homework and diagramming homework was brutal, but proper syntax was drilled into us for two straight years. I owe so much to my English teacher.

I would think stats or download count could easily abused with some clever scripts to hit the server a number of times

I see first ride event people as being distant cousins of the people who try to ride on the last train of the day in the last row. Both are equally horrible, probably stem from an undiagnosed case of OCD, but one of the two requires you to pay on top of it.

So does this mean that there's no way X-flight will be open on Opening weekend?

"May 5: Opening Day for the park. May 12-13: Season Pass Sneak Preview of X Flight. May 16: X Flight opens to the general public."

Further details:
May 9: Private high school event for park and X-Flight
May 15: Private Physics day event for park (and X-Flight)

Any admins think you could get all these dates thrown up on the homepage somewhere? It seems we get a ton of people asking about dates and such.

Calm down, it's really not a big deal. In a year or 2, you won't even care anymore even if you were the first one to ride it.

With all these dates, this is what you call a bad PR person. In the video, didn't he say the 15th? On top of it, they don't say these dates on the website either. It's confusing, and I know so many of the general public are going to be mad because they have no clue what's going on with X-Flight, and it's opening day.
