The 2013 Discussion

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby ttd rox on Fri Feb 10, 2012 10:39 pm
I realize it's early so please don't get mad at me but 2013 rumors are starting to pop up in the X-Flight thread so I decided to create this to house any talk about what 2013 will bring to the park so the other topics don't get messy and off topic. Six Flags did state that under Anderson they will add a new ride, show, or attraction to each Six Flags park so I'm assuming we will get something new next year. As of right now, Iron Wolf's spot, Trailblazer's spot, and possibly the current location of the amphitheater in Yukon are available for new additions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the older flats removed from the park for an addition of a newer flat ride. While I would like another roller coaster, I do hope SFGAm gets a new thrilling flat ride since they are lacking of good quality flats. My guess is a SkyScreamer.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)

Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades

Thanks for creating this thread. I knew we were getting off topic in that thread because of me. It does look to me we have a fair amount of room for another roller coaster, and I would love to see that happen.

I see a new show added versus a new flat ride for 2013. I think Wolf area will be empty for a while since that is the back area of the park and the park has never been in a hurry to replace what they take down. As long as they remove that old station house, all is good. time to get rid of it! Why on earth would you reuse a station for a third time! Our next "big" addition should be a high thrill water ride. buccaneer Battle was a bust. And LR/YC will not be around forever. Clipper is more down than running and both are very old which is what mostly killed SWF.

Never thought about a high thrill water ride.... maybe a nice water coaster? that would be interesting to see if they go big on it.

It's way to early, but with the fact we're getting a large coaster this year, I doubt we'd get another coaster in 2013, and judging by the trends in both the Industry and Six Flags in general, I'll also go with I bet we get a Sky Screamer.

Someone mentioned about fitting a sky screamer in the old trailblazer area, that might work.

I dounbt that a Skyscreamer would fit into Trailblazers spot because when you are 100 feet up of the 236 feet guess what would happen. Some of the cars will probably crash into Demon right before the drop due to how far the swings/cars swing. I also think that they could possibly remove the Yukon Amphitheater and then they could combine Iron Wolf's spot and the old theaters spot and have tons of room for a new coaster. I hope that we would get a floorless dive machine like Griffon/Shekira or a ride like Maverick or Saw the Ride because when the drop is more than vertical you definetly feel it or I would like to see a roller coaster with many iversions like the ones that have 10/11 inversions.

They always (or should) have about 3 water rides in the dry side. I never go to HH though it's probably because of the fact that my skin reacts really bad to chlorine. I agree that YC/LR's time is pretty much up. I don't think they should refurbish the rides but instead build something like Shoot the Rapids.

I could see a cave/mine themed water ride going into Yukon Territory to take the place of the flumes. Obviously they should theme it well but I really enjoyed STR at Cedar Point. Most theme parks don't get a lot of attention on their flumes including Cedar Point but Logger's Run always seems to be busy during the summer. If they added a modern flume I think it would receive more people than what STR's at CP does on average.

I definitely agree with that! or have you seen pilgrim's plunge at holiday world. but not as big. I think that'd be pretty cool!

Well between what is generally considered to be one of the lamest splashdown rides in the world, and a log flume that so far has had more downtime then uptime and showed up with boats that didn't fit in the ride. I vote for option C. Keep the current flumes, and for a fairly minimal cost just get new galvanized steel trough for the upper sections to replace the nearly worn out Fiberglass. Then revisit the issue in another 30-40 years.

I dont think SFGAm needs a skyscreamer, and in the Trailblazer area. The swings would hit Demon

You really think SFGAm would install the ride in a way that the swings would even come close to hitting Demon?

Sky Screamers Generally don't start to swing until they get higher....But I still agree that if a sky screamer is considered, it wouldn't go there.

Exactly. Plus a Skyscreamer wouldn't fit in with SWT. I don't want to ruin it. I'd rather have it go in County Fair or replace Condor.

It would never fit in Condors spot, Thats about the same size as trailblazers old spot.....I think our park is way too crammed for us to receive a waste of space skycreamer. I would rather see us get a thrill ride package of some sort, we are really lacking in the flat ride department, plus that takes more people away from the coasters :)

If the tower was about 40-50 feet from Demon, there'd be no danger of collision.
