What was the Hilltopper/ Industrial Revolution?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Hugehungry on September 28th, 2017, 7:12 pm
Hello!

This is my first post so I hope I do it right. XD

I've recently gone to fright fest, and I visited the ride graveyard. It was really interesting! mostly because I knew almost all the old rides XD (I wasn't even alive when most of them were still working)
I saw the gravestone for Industrial Revolution, and I'd never heard of it before. I tried looking it up, checking other great america sites, and even wikipedia's old ride list. When checking that, it was even unknown when the hilltoper closed. (I heard somewhere the hilltoper's name was changed to industrial revolution) The thing I could find was the model and brand of the ride, which I googled and found one picture of the originally manufactured ride.

Anyone have information on this ride?
Any pictures?
All information is appreciated!

Thanks!
Your post had the word image in it. I'm going to assume my computer still refuses to load images from this form *sigh*
I've heard so much confusion between the yukon yahoo and the hilltoper/ industrial revolution I'm getting a tad confused myself
Almost every site has confusion on these... I wonder how long it was open that no one remembers it?
I'm going to continue looking for stuff

Here's something I found previously, I looked up the ride model I found on Wikipedia and searched it up.
http://www.wisdomrides.com/viewnew/13
I also looked it up on youtube, it looks like some sort of carnival ride

I noticed how similar it looked to the yukon yahoo. I've seen confusion between the two but now i finally see why
http://greatamericaparks.com/yukonyahoo.html
from what I've seen they look EXTREMELY similar... and they have almost identical closing years..
I THINK the gravestone for industrial revolution said it was closed down in 1990,and the yukon yahoo said approximatly 1991
odd
My one friend feels like she's heard of this ride and is going to talk to her parents who know a lot about SFGA

I believe Yukon Yahoo was renamed Delta Flyer and moved to Condor's spot before being removed in 1990. Don't think it had any correlation to Industrial Revolution/Hilltopper aside from being a similar ride model

Wasn’t Delta Flyer a sky ride? If I remember correctly, they had two sky rides: Delta Flyer and Southern Crossing

Yes, that was also the name of one of the sky rides. This was after they were taken out and the name was reused.

Delta flyer was a sky ride like eagles flight and southern cross. Then, once delta flyer was removed yukon yahoo was moved to delta flyers old spot and took its name.
So there were technically 2 delta flyers I guess

My first couple times at the park 1980-81, I remember riding Industrial Revolution with my mom and couldn't stop looking up at the Demon (which I wouldn't ride until 1982). One time when we were getting out, an employee came by to help my mom gather change that fell out of her pocket - out of the red upholstered seat. Vivid memories! Simpler times... people connected and looked out for one another more than today. Times change.

Hi,

I'm not sure if your question was answered so here goes:

Yukon Yahoo was a Bayern Curve flat on the current site of the go-carts. It was relocated to make way for Fort Fun in 1980(?) along with the Saskatchewan Scrambler which still operates as Hometown Fun Machine. Yukon Yahoo operated briefly as the Delta Flyer in the current site of the Superman entrance which was once a station for the sky ride. The other station is the funnel cake shop near Goliath.

Industrial Revolution and Hilltopper were the same music express / Himalaya flat located in the empty lot next to Demon where the ropes course used to be. I'm not sure which year it was removed. I think before the Six Flags era.

I hope I got this all correct and I hope it helps clear up the confusion.

Sounds about right other than the Bayern Kurve Delta Flyer was where Condor is now
