Best Times to Visit

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SFGAmFan12 on June 24th, 2017, 12:57 pm
Hi all!

I want your opinions on the best times to visit the park! I usually only go during Fright Fest and maybe one other day during the year. This year I have season passes again (have yet to use them) and recently was laid off which means I suddenly have some time on my hands. So back to my original question, what days or time of the month is the best to visit or worst to visit? I want to squeeze in the park and Hurricane Harbor at some point but I don't want to be inundated with crowds.

Thank you!!

Like doubleb said, BAFF automatically ruins any day, so for the sake of this list pretend there are none

Best:

-Weekdays in May
-Weekdays at the end of August
-Halloween (If the park is open - Everyone seems to have other plans so the park is always dead)

Not bad:

-Weekends in May
-First two weekends of Fright Fest

Average:

-Weekends in April (Usually opening crowds)
-Weekends in June
-Labor Day Weekend
-Memorial Day Weekend
-Beginning half of July

Bad:

-Late July
-November
-First few weekends in October

Avoid at all cost:

-Last week of July
-First week of August
-Second week of August (Depending on when the RTS tickets expire)
-Last weekends in Fright Fest
-Any BAFF day

Does anyone have any thoughts on crowd levels for the upcoming 4 day weekend for July 4th?

Contemplating a drive to Great America this weekend(Saturday or Sunday). Interestingly they aren't including Saturday the 1st in with there July 4th promotions. They are also getting off of "Bring a friend free" week. Also had the thought that being its a 4 day weekend it may disperse the crowds over more days than normal so it might not be too bad. Any other thoughts?

operations this year are spectacularly improved over the past 5-10 years. 3 train stack on Bull is no longer the norm. color me impressed

^ Agree with this. Also, they really are trying (and succeeding) to get the RB trains launched in that 30 seconds.

Monday and Sunday will be best. I went Saturday of Labor Day weekend last year and it was packed, I'd say almost to late July level. 1 hour for Goliath via SRL (the ride itself had a full queue an hour before closing) and JLBFM had a near full queue almost all day as well.

Anyone done the "Bring a coke can, enter at 9:30 for certain rides" ERT in the past? How was it crowd-wise?
Considering giving it a whack Monday morning, but if it's going to be excessively packed like CAD it obviously wouldn't be worth it...
