What was up with the early closing of Hurricane Harbor 8/12?

During a visit on Friday, 8/12/2016 some friends reported back that the Peking Acrobat shows were all canceled and that Hurricane Harbor closed early. I know Friday was rainy and they said the crowds were light, but do they really cancel shows and close the water park when attendance is light?

Having worked at a water park before I can tell you I'm not surprised to see HH closed during a rain day with threat of lightning

If there was lightning, do you really think they'd let people in say the wave pool or something?

I'm not sure why they closed the entire water park though. Unless it was within an hour or two before it was supposed to close, then it would make sense to me.

If there's lightning within a few miles (5, I think), they close everything in the water park for a while. No idea if that's what happened Friday, but it's a thing that happens.

But it also wouldn't shock me if they closed stuff because of low crowds because they've certainly been known to do that sort of thing, too.

There were literally 200 people in the water park at 1pm Friday... Also the Peking Acrobats have been finished for about a week now.
