Well, today will be the day to find out. If anyone is going to the park today (I know that cam and rolling coasting are going) please report back here on the status that this ride is in. Its now on screamscape if you go and look there about orbit, ERC and JWR, but its not much, there's soooo much more on the forum right now than on screamscape

Well half of the people on this forum that posted about it probably sent it into screamscape.

Orbit done for good. East River Crawler relocated there.
Jester closed. Maybe relocated, may leave altogether.
New for 2017 announcement is a 4D Free Fly in Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras also gets a new flat.
Bridge b/w Yankee Harbor and Mardi Gras may also be removed.
If those rumors are true I still don't see why they would remove orbit and move east river crawler there. Just seems unnecessary. I understand jesters wild ride though.

This is sad if it's true. I've been riding the Orbit since 1981, I would hate to say goodbye with out saying goodbye. (Of course the park "doesn't owe me anything," etc., but as a fan, it would have been nice to give it a proper send off).
Also, just a reminder for anyone who uses the excuse of needing space (same goes for when Goliath was built; it's short because the park didn't want to invest in a full roller coaster, NOT because there is no space). There is enough space at the park for as many rides and roller coasters they ever want to put in. Coasters and rides can be built over, under and through anything. Google Gröna Lund, Liseberg, Blackpool Pleasure Beach or even little Indiana Beach.
Of course nothing is permanent, and we have one of the best collections of vintage 70's rides. When a "service life" has completed, rides can be partially or completely restored and rebuilt. Hulk in Orlando is a great example of that. One of the best things about the old Orbit (Schwarzkopf Enterprise) is riding in that car with no restraint. It's almost a feature within itself. I'm sure the new shoulder bar versions are fun, but vintage is really where it's at.
SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. My first theory appears to be correct in that this is only maintenance and the rides will reopen next season. King Chaos and such were closed for the pre-season, and now Orbit and such are closing at the end of peak season.
That's what I was thinking, I was expecting to see "THIS RIDE WILL NOT OPEN TODAY" at all three rides. Oh, also, the Scenic Railway was not running today.

Or... They don't have a "this ride is closed forever" sign and just grabbed the scheduled maintainance one instead. Not saying that it's NOT scheduled maintainance, I just don't think that the sign is a binding contract or anything...
