Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

There were 4 rides that were going to close...

Yeah...

I know they don't have that, but I was expecting the one that says "THIS RIDE WILL NOT OPEN TODAY" since the other ones are generally used for when the rides reopen soon.

Orbits listed as closed for the season on the Ride Status page.

Also, maybe the ride ops just meant it was the last ride for the season. Maybe it's being relocated elsewhere in the park with a new theme?

I found out that it was closing from a friends son who was there on Sunday. The ride operator announced that they were were the last people to ever ride the Orbit as it was being taken down and let them ride multiple times in a row. Sounded pretty final to me.

Yeah, but it's an operator. All he knows is that he's being moved to another ride.

You know what I am always confused about with enterprises, they aren't considered thrilling flat rides. Orbit is on the family page at SFGAm, why aren't they considered a thrilling flat, like king chaos, giant drop or revolution?

There aren't any extreme Gs or rapid changes of motion. Everything about Orbit is gradual.

I'll admit I'm with the group of those being disappointed that there was no announcement regarding the closure of Orbit. I know we're in the minority here and the GP won't really notice, but I'm still kinda bummed. I've been riding orbit since 1984 so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I'm especially bummed because I was going to make a trip to the park at the end of July without my daughter, who is too afraid to ride a lot of things, and Orbit was on my list. I ended up not making the trip due to a hangover. I just couldn't get out of bed that early for a 3 hour drive. Stupid alcohol!

Last time I went, King Chaos's sign said it was moderate. Kinda odd in my opinion

Anyone know why orbit doesn't say closed for the season on the website. It's wierd that the others say they're closed for the season

Sure glad they closed it when they did and didn't keep it open another few weeks to help with the huge crowds!

Crowds today were the worst! 3 hours for RB, X-Flight didn't open until 1, Superman had extended downtime, weather closed rides from 6:15 - 7:30, and the park was only open until 8:00.

That's not all. The traffic to get into the park stretched all the way ontoI-94 past Washington Street. I didn't even bother to ride Demon. If lines got to be that bad then they should of just closed the lines down until they were shorter. But I'm sure there have been worse days. I took a picture of Orbit since I probably won't be going to park again until Fright Fest.

I mean why I keep it open through the final Bring a Friend Free week? Final rides could have been this Friday during Coasters after Dark for the gold passers.

Loggers Run was closed yesterday too (and totally drained, so maybe it's been closed for a while?). I can agree with some other people, yesterday was one of the busiest days I've ever seen (and I've been to previous bring a friend days in previous years they were never like this). You'd think they would want to put their best good forward for all the extra people in the park who could potentially be new pass holders next month, but I guess they just don't care...

Don't know how reliable this is, but an employee told me that they were expecting 7,000 and ended up with about three times that.

7,000 seems like an insanely low number for Great America. Anyone know around what we get daily?
