Do we have any ideas about the status of X Flights second train? I remember last year it took some time for the second train to show up, hopefully that won't be the case again.
I do believe the weather was to blame for Goliath's one train op this passed weekend. they kept taking trains on and off. Seems when they tried to run two it went haywire. As for X-Flight, that door was never opened enough to see inside....They got smart this year to put a tarp in front so it was impossible to see inside.
Also, be prepared to see much less trees at the park. There was at least one cut down at Eagle and all around the park they've been cut and trimmed to the point where they're barebones.

No. It's all about what happened at Magic Mountain. They're probably doing it on midway to prevent falling branches during a storm...... Liabilities....
good. the park needed a trimming. was looking a bit overgrown in alot of places. would prefer they take out the stones, rocks, or pavement under coasters where it could be realistically replaced with grass or even better some sign of a theme. Goliath is screaming for some theming. Hell most the park could use alot of work on theming.
*sigh* Is it too much to ask that the park has all the trains ready on opening day? Seems like they used to be able to do just that. It's not like they have a short off-season or are located in the middle of nowhere!
I think the reason the park does not have everything ready to go is do to the inspectors from the city. There must be a lot more regulations than there use to be. This is my opinion I am just guessing.
Regulations for amusement park rides hasn't changed in years. The state inspects that the ride PLC is working properly by operating an Estop, ride stop etc, and after that works they inspect all restraints to ensure they are in working order. Up to the park to inspect the rest.

when I was at advocate day, around maybe like 11 am or 12 pm, Goliath was testing. There was a line outside the que line entrance, and I entered it. Few minutes after I entered the line, a worker came by and gave his little talk. He said something along the lines of "red train is running right now 10 seconds slower than normal. So we need to give it some time to warm up, but then we have to get orange train running. The orange train isn't even on the track right now, they'll put it on after red gets to normal speed."
So I'm pretty sure they wanted to run both trains on Advocate Day and I would be shocked if they weren't on opening day.

From what I observed, it wasn't necessarily the speed being the only issue. Goliath looked like it was having issues running two. Otherwise it makes no sense that they had orange running one then trying to run two and end up swapping orange for red before finally opening it. One of two scenarios:
1) Goliath's Orange train needed to be left on storage for some kind of part replacement.
2) Goliath doesn't play nice in cold weather and might have had a "Trouble light" as a consistent issue while running two trains. This is common on some of the coasters where a proximity switch can cause havoc for a day.

Goliath is closed. Just got a confirmed report, Red train has valleyed in the final turnaround. No one was on the ride at the time. Ride will NOT open today, as for tomorrow, well don't count on it.
Well, seeing that they're having an hour of Exclusive Ride Time for pass holders today scheduled, having one train running is better than nothing. Staying in Gurnee the next two weekends in a row, so hopefully they'll get the kinks worked out (hopefully by Thursday when I get there for my first day)
