I recently purchased the 2015 Guiness book of world records and Goliath is nowhere to be found. Steepest wood goes to Outlaw Run and tallest wood goes to El Toro.
My question is did Goliath not make the records because a late opening prevented Guiness from making it official or does Guiness not recognize Goliath for any records due to it pretty much being a hybrid?
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

So wouldn't outlaw run have been denied steepest drop if this was the case?

I hope you don't seriously believe that.

If anyone here has ever been a part of getting a Guinness World Record you'll know how much of a giant pain in the ass it can be. The verification process is expensive and takes a lot of time, I'd say its more likely that the coaster didn't open early enough for the publishers to get the record into the 2015 book than them listening to a random coaster enthusiast's opinion.
Goliath is still a hybrid though.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2 Coaster Count: 444
It's probably a good idea that not everyone drank the koolaid on this debate.
Look very closely at the pictures of Goliath and Outlaw Run. I agree with GBOWR in that Outlaw Run is a true wooden coaster and should deserve the record over Goliath.
"Everyone, listen to me! These jerks killed Superboy. They've tried to kill us. Now they say they're going to tear this city apart. I say... like hell."
Guiness doesn't actually go around bestowing records upon record setting things, in order to be recognized you have to apply to them then that starts the process. Any word on if the park ever applied for a record, I never heard anything about it. And I kinda doubt that they did, the park is much more worried about marketing over reality, if they do apply though, perhaps they can also get the record for wolds cleanest theme park and nations best water park. I think also in the park somewhere they claim worlds best funnel cakes, though just saw the same sign the other day at SFStL

Hell no I don't but he kept on and on like he had the powers to make them not label Goliath as the tallest fastest.

I take it Man Child had crappy Wifi in the Ward for his Skype call with GBOWR.

That's great, but it still doesn't magically make Outlaw Run a wood coaster and Goliath a steel coaster
That only works with dark paints. Lighter paints don't have enough pigment
As a paint chemist both of these statements hurt my head.
As for the record I am guessing the park never applied for them as somebody mentioned before it is a pain in the ass and why go through all the trouble when you have already marketed it as a triple record breaker and nobody except enthusiasts questioned it.
