Part 2 was a good video. Very interesting to see the generation of SFGAm that I remember somewhat.

Sad they didnt have any construction photos/footage of BTR being built, but all in all a great movie.

Did they show Rolling Thunder? I had one of those large unfolding windshield blockers with Rolling Thunder on it. Had to get rid of it after sitting in my trunk for years, moldy n stuff.

Hrm... I don't remember the Gulf Coaster in the part 1.

Yes they did have a section on Rolling Thunder... I enjoyed the Storm Chaser ad the showed about the ride. Pretty cool

I really liked Rolling Thunder. Out of the older rides, I miss Rolling Thunder and Hay Bailer the most.

I think if you got to ride Rolling Thunder as a full grown adult, you don't miss it at all

Sky Whirl on the other hand, I know exactly the reasons why they took it out, I know it had to go, no if's and's or but's about it(well they could have saved it, but it it would have been uneconomical/a bad business move), but still, SFGAm has never been the same for me since they got rid of it. Every time I go to the park, it feels like an incomplete day without riding it, even 12 years later. No one is at fault, but it is what it is.

I wished I had the guts to ride Power Dive when I was a kid but I was too intimidated by seeing the people hanging upside down for like 30 seconds. Plus I heard the harness hurt like hell.

^ I've heard that too, but I think it depends on how tall you are. I found Phoenix at BGT to be fine, but my shoulders weren't touching the restrains.

I agree with the cost reason for removing it, but business decisions I always consider to be debatable. Part of me had some sort of fantasy that it would be put back up. Oh well. Another factor is that there seems to be worse behavior problems these days then back then. Sure, there was shenanigans hourly on Sky Whirl, but I just can't see the restless, acting out, gang flashing teens of today sitting on that ride for 10 minutes and not doing something incredibly stupid.

Power Dive was awesome. I was a small teen (5' 1", 110 lbs) but never heard anyone complain about the shoulder harnesses. I was always the nut crunching lap bar. But if you put your knees up some, problem solved

^^^I don't think Power Dive's harnesses were painful. King Chaos are worse in my opinion. Power Dive to me was an okay ride. I like the upside down flat rides that are a little more unique than just put you upside down. Power Dive is one of those rides where it was very simple. Goal is to put you upside down, and sometimes suspend you in the air. Really not much of difference than an Inverter, a Kamikaze / Hi Flyer / Skymaster ,etc, or a Ring of Fire / Fireball.

If you want to ride a Power Dive again (same manufacturer), just go to Six Flags Over Texas (which has a Power Dive that I think came from Astroworld), or go to (as someone said) Busch Gardens Tampa, and there is a ride called Phoenix. The Phoenix looks more different than the SFOT one even though SFOT one is red, but it's still the same manufacturer.

Dive's restraints were no-worse than King Chaos.

The harness on Power Dive curved inward and was quite heavy on the chest. I thought they were more uncomfortable than Chaos and a bigger deal than the nut squeezing.

Yeah, they'd punch you right in the sternum, they were pretty bad and unnecessary.

Ahhh, the memories of Power Dive! The nut crunch, the gut punch, the sudden rushes of blood to the head. The Top Gun soundtrack, the spinning tires, the whoosh every time it went through the station. I miss that ride. A true classic and the first looping kinda ride that actually got me to go on similar at rinky dink carnivals.

Brilliant. Pure brilliant. I think it's so cool that SFGAm is showing this at the Pictorium. I know it might be rare, but I really hope a random guest from the general public wanders into the Pictorium for cooling off and after watching this movie, he/she then becomes fascinated by the history of the park (and maybe more respectful)! I think it's great that they are doing this. I only went to the park last year once, and it was for half a day. I moved this year so I wasn't able to attend this season, thus missing out on Vol. 2. Sad, but I hope they replay it for next season so I can attend and watch it through an IMAX experience.
