The Beast POV footage from opening year.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Thought I would share this since when they shot this footage, the final helix tunnels weren't completely constructed yet. I am still shaking my head with the long straight track with the canopy over it. What purpose does that serve?

The Beast
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

The long straight section is a block brake. Block brakes have to be pretty giant with skid brakes. Main reason why pretty much all older coasters only ever ran 2 trains.

I know the brakes are there. I was referring to the canopy cover that goes over it.

Skid brakes don't work when they get wet, pretty much every coaster with skid brakes has a covered brake run. If a coaster has uncovered skids it can't run in the slightest of drizzles (Tigrr at IB is a prime example)
