SIX FLAGS RELEASES NEW ELEMENTS OF 'THE DARK KNIGHT' COASTER
New Attraction Debuts in Three Six Flags Parks Late Spring 2008

March 3, 2008 - New York, NY -Six Flags, Inc. (NYSE: SIX) released today key thematic elements of the highly anticipated 'The Dark Knight Coaster," an indoor roller coaster based on Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming movie The Dark Knight. Featuring DC Comics' characters Batman and The Joker, the $7.5 million ride will open at three parks this spring - Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ; Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL; and Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA.

"The design and construction of this ride will combine the excitement of The Dark Knight movie with the thrill of a roller coaster - merging the two worlds into one unforgettable experience for our guests,' said Mike Antinoro, Six Flags Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing. "The Dark Knight film is a powerful follow-up to Batman Begins and we expect The Dark Knight Coaster to be a can't miss event for all audiences this summer as well."

"We're excited to partner with Six Flags to deliver an experience for Batman fans like never before," said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "The Dark Knight Coaster will give fans a firsthand experience, immersing them with the sights, sounds and thrills of crime fighting in Gotham City."

"The Dark Knight Coaster will offer both fans of the film and of Batman a thrilling new way to experience the characters and their world," says Cheryl Rubin, SVP Brand Management, DC Comics.

More than just a ride, The Dark Knight Coaster is an adventure that utilizes storytelling, physical movement, video, sound and special effects to bring guests a one-of-a-kind dark ride thrill. As part of the experience, park guests will see, hear and feel the action of the movie the moment they enter the ride queue line, as they are transformed into citizens of Gotham City – caught in the middle of a city under siege and torn apart by The Joker. Guests will then board a Gotham City rail car and careen through demented hallways of twists, turns, unseen hills and chaotic images, and continue to be tormented by The Joker as they are thrust onto the battlefield of good vs. evil. Will The Dark Knight save them in time?

The attraction will introduce new, customized footage featuring District Attorney Harvey Dent (as portrayed by Aaron Eckhart), produced and shot specifically for The Dark Knight Coaster. The ride will also incorporate audio and visual elements from the film. The opening of The Dark Knight Coaster will be perfectly timed to coincide with the debut of The Dark Knight which opens July 18th.

I also heard that there is no Flash Pass use for Dark Knight (DK). Did they offer Flash Pass for Superman or new coasters first year?

Anyone know?

Yeah, because when they built Superman they built a flashpass line right away. Thats why theres three lanes.

But I think with the "themed que", a flash pass would make you skip that. And if the park is putting effort into the que, I dont think they would want people to skip it...it would ruin the story of the story.

If anything, they should put flashpass on Viper. They have the three lanes that were built with HH. They really, could get away with the one for the HH entrance. And the line gets out of hand on busy days.

Very true. HH backs up worse than the kennedy at Rush Hour. And I didnt know of all of the details of TDK until this week, of all the storyline and all. But for us season ppl, were gonna get tired of that real kwik.

There will be a fast pass in use on TDK. If you look at the picture on the URL below, you will see that it is on the right side

Then maybe it is only a first year thing. It says right on the Homepage for the coasters that there is no Flash Pass...

THE DARK KNIGHT COASTER BY THE NUMBERS
Height Restrictions 48" min. to ride alone, 42" with adult.
Ride Category Thrill (More like this)
Flash Pass No
Length 1,213 feet
Duration 120 seconds
Capacity 32
Introduction Spring, 2008
Manufacturer Mack Rides GmbH & Co KG

SO I guess it is just a wait and see.

That is sort of strange that they don't coincide.

Well in other years passed they did not offer flash pass on the first year of operations of new rides. So, I assume this is the case and we will see flash pass in 2009. This was the same for SUF First year they have no flash pass but the entrance was build already.

^ Yes, that is probably the case. Its better to build it in at the beginning, rather then try to figure out to add it later.
