Wow, that's sweet. I bet people are still going to be buying season passes at that time even though with that pass they can go for the rest of the just for admission price.

So basically what it looks like this is, a play pass type deal like what SFMM had.

Buy a day play all year free. I dont think i like this.

Think of it this way.

It may sound like a rip-off to Season Pass holders.
But keep it mind, this is halfway through the Season.

Though they are going to lose as much money off of them as they lose off of us.

Is this just if you come on August 5th? Or for the rest of the season?

After the last conference call, I wouldn't be surprised if it's for the rest of the season, they need more attendence numbers.

This is a way to raise attendance and gets people to come. SFGAM attendance this year has been lacking, just as most other Six Flags Parks. Why? Most likely due to tickets prices going up along with parking all in the same season and less adverting.

My immediate reaction to that was: Ugh, that bites.

There are already too many people with season passes (aka, CAD crowds). Now they're giving the GP a pass, that includes fright fest? I know alot of people are going to go to fright fest because of that, I'm sure of it.

This is my last year with a season pass I think, so I guess I don't care as much, but still, I'm a fan of a not so crowded park.

This has nothing to do with you. Short lines and no crowds KILL a theme park. If Six Flags can drum up extra business by doing this, good for them.
The yearly pass buyers won't wait untill August and the familys have done their trips.

Reading a few message boards and knowing the height of and speed of American Eagle does not put you in a elitest catagory over the "general public". Six Flags would much rather have a family spending money then a coaster snob who comes a million times and never spends a dime in the park.
Sorry to snap on you but I'm not a fan of the "bash the general pubic" attitude I see on here sometimes.

Its never a good sign when a company gives away the gate to prop up attendance numbers.
This will make the end of the year numbers look better, but doing this shows they are nowhere near the goals they had set.
IMHO they would be much better dropping food/parking prices than almost giving away passes for the rest of the year.

But on the flip side of that Bob, they are probably leaning towards those new pass holders paying for the highly priced parking, gifts, and food.

Has anybody seen this advertised anywhere else besides the website?

Where is there any evidence that someone who gets a deal on a seasonpass this year will be a season passholder for years to come????
One of the reasons that SF is in bad financial health is that fact they have to give away the gate thru deals like this or other big discounts schemes.
They need to find a way to get people to go to the park paying the regular admission price and increase the cost of season pass's or this current regime will suffer the same fate as the one before it.
