Today, Six Flags Great America featured a special event for Roller Coaster Enthusiasts. They were allowed to arrive at the park 2 hours early to get a special "Hard Hat Tour" of the new water park-Hurricane Harbor.

Ron Sevart, the park's General Manager, led this tour. On this tour we were brought behind the scenes of the construction of Hurricane Harbor. The tour lasted 2 hours.

We have a full trip report plus 200+ high-res images exclusive here at SFGAmWorld.com.

Wow, HH is looking good!! The detail to theming is far better than I expected. I cant wait...

BTW, will they clean out the water before opening? Because in the pics, some of the water in the wave pool and one other slide looked like the bottom was abit dirty.

Yes, they were doing that today. They were scrubbing the bottom on Castaway Creek and blasting the dirt with firehozes.

Awesome pics Aero. Quick question, was this a "Invite only" tour or was it a "Public tour"?

Anywho...I think those mat slides are going to be sick! The bowls are looking good to but what happens if someoen gets stuck on the other side of the exit hole? I am assuming they just push themselves out but that would be really inconvinent in my opinion.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

I think that the bowl slides HAVE to be designed and engineered where that doesn't happen, otherwise why would they have the exit hole pointing in one direction?

It was a technically a public tour, but you had to reserve and they only allowed 15 people to go. The people who got the email announcing the tour were ACE members. This was designed specifially for enthusiasts.

There's video of the CannonBowls (Vortex and Typhoon) here on Proslides website if your not sure how they work.

http://proslide.com/whatsnew/whatsnew.htm
Scroll down to CannonBowl. (Realplayer required)

There are water jets that guide you into the correct spot to funnel out of the bowl.
Go Bulls!
