Chrysler Buys out Park on 9/25

Announcements & News From The Homepage
Postby SFGAm Rules on September 17th, 2004, 10:18 am
Chrysler has booked Six Flags in Gurnee on Sept. 25 so consumers can drive the new versions of the 300C, PT Cruiser, Crossfire, Sebring and Town & Country on parking-lot courses when not on the thrill rides. Drivers must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license.

Chrysler is charging $100 per carload for the Block Party to defray the cost of renting the park and for another reason.

"If 7,000 people have to put up money to register, the odds of them showing up are greater than if the event is free," Bitonti said. "We charge $325 for Camp Jeep."

Well this explains why the park is closed on the 25th now instead of being open from 10-6 like originally scheduled.

This adds to the reasons of why the back parking lot has been repaved.

No I doubt that, the parking lot needed to be repaved anyhow because it needed more spaces and was in bad shape. They aren't going to repave a lot just for one buyout, this isn't the first car event they have had in SFGAm's parking lot.

That is why they repaved the lot now, so they could have it ready for Fright Fest and/or this event.

So what do you do, show up and pay a flat rate of $100 for your carload and you can get in the park?

It says that you can go with as many people as you want in the car, it is $100 for a carload of people. Sounds like a deal if you get 10 people in the car, $10 each and a buyout.

Oh man, I'd really like to go to that. My family went to the Chrysler Park-n-Ride even last year. That was okay, though there were a few people there. How it worked was anyone with a Chrysler mini van could get 7 free tickets to the park (customer appreciation). Was fun. Got some free t-shirts and stuff. This event sound much better though.

My mom and my brother went today. It was not very hard to get in. They paied $0.0000. There was 2 people checking for tickets they showed their season passes they said the park was closed. My mom called the Six Flags Great america Hotline and they said of course they can go in, the park was bought out but we had it schedualed we just took it off the internet but you can go in. So they got in. No lines at all is what I heard. About a train wait for Raging Bull. The longest wait was 1/2 switchback for Ragin' Cajun. I wish I could have gone but I had to go to work.

Alright lets clear some things up here.

I forgot to warn my neighbor about this, and he went there with a HUGE group of people. They got there only to be turned away by the parking people. My neighbor said though that the lady said that it was open to season pass holders and not GP? It is true that you could have gotten in yesterday with your pass?

No, that's like saying it's ACE day when it's really Coasterbuzz day, she worded it wrong or just didn't want to explain what was going on.

Wait they got in with the're pass!?!

Depending on attendance passes sometimes passes are accepted, there obviosley wern't many people there....it's not worth trying though.

Hope that helps.

They wouldn't have gotten in but they complained, because they drove for 45 minutes to go and it said on the scheduale the park would be open.
